PREVIEW: Semifinal Olympic Football Tournament Beijing 2008 ARGENTINA - BRAZIL "3 Players from the Italian Serie A in this Semifinal: Lavezzi, Pato, and Ronaldinho"

By Anna Italia

What a perfect headline from Brazilian newspaper Globo "Pequim vai tremer: Brasil x Argentina na semifinal."  It means in English "Peking will tremble: Brazil and Argentina in Semifinal."

You better believe it will tremble not only in Peking but worldwide for the millions of fans following both Super Power teams.  For example, I follow Argentina and Brazil and this match is just "whoever blinks first, they lose."

Semifinal is on Tuesday, August 19, 2008
in Beijing. Wow, it is tough to choose.  My blog  Italian Soccer Serie A  officialy supports both because they have players from our Italian Serie A.

Argentina: Napoli Forward Ezequiel Lavezzi
Brazil:   AC Milan Forward Alexandre Pato and Ronaldinho

Interesting is that while Argentina - Brazil continuously faced each other in different tournaments, they have only played once in the Olympics.  Ironically, in previous matches, like in the Copa America, Argentina started playing well and giving good football show while Brazil started slow and struggling to win to arrive in the finals against Argentina and winning the whole cake.  Will that happen too in the Olympics?

One difference is that in this 2008 Men Football Olympic it is Brazil starting well and scoring while Argentina barely won by 1 goal or 2.

Let's see how Argentina and Brazil have done in this Olympics.

Background Olympic Tournament Argentina and Brazil

Argentina is currently the defending champion while Brazil last Olympic winning was in 1988.

The Challenge is open for both. Brazil to keep dominating Argentina as they have done in the last 3 consecutive finals Copa América of 2004, Copa das Confederações of 2005 and Copa América of 2007 or for Argentina to break this continuous beating and rule again.

Will it be again Samba outplaying Tango or Tango outplaying Samba?

The most interesting aspect of this 2008 Semifinal Man Football Tournament is that former teammates Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho will play against each other when they were "good buddies in Barcelona." It is now Barcelona against AC Milan. They know each other well and will use that knowledge in this match to help get a victory for their respective countries.

Argentina - Brazil

Will it be the Argentinian Tango to dominate the Brazilian Samba or Samba continuing dominating the Argentinian Tango?

Brazil will win and why?  Argentina will win and why?

Hi Anna. I agree with you. Who do you cheer for? I also tend to cheer for both. I think though that I'll be favoring Brasil. Ron, Pato, Milan.... yeah, I think Brasil. Also, I've been to Brasil. I have a little more of a connection there. I've never been to Argentina.

      Rafael... BRAZIL all the way.

Still the Blog is Supporting both Argentina and Brazil for our Serie A players. My personal preference in this match has to do with "my Milan faith and following our Little Milan in the Olympics with Pato and Dinho."

      So, let's dance SAMMMBAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

      SAMMBBBAAAA
      SAMMMBBBAAAAAA
      SAMMMMBBAAAA

However if LAVEZZI scores I will celebrate it because I like him and have been following since his arrival in Napoli.
