Covering the 2008 Summer Olympics Game in Beijing  from an Italian Perspective


     I am following Argentina - Netherlands because there is one player from the Italian Serie A Napoli forward Ezequiel "El Pocho" Lavezzi playing for Argentina.

Glad to see the GREAT DIEGO ARMANDO MARADONA in the tribune supporting Argentina and his son law "El Kun Aguero."

Maradona also has expressed his admiration for Napoli forward Ezequiel Lavezzi for what he has been doing in "his great Napoli." Il Napoli of Maradona.

I was waiting the entire match to see Lavezzi and Argentina Coach Batista kept him on the bench in the first 90 minutes. 

Lavezzi came only in extra time and only for 22 minutes when finally Coach Batista substituted El Kun Aguero who had more than 5 chances to score and could not get one right. 

Even commentators on TV were saying that it was time to change Aguero after wasting so many goal opportunities.

Anyway, I was glad to see Barcelona forward Lionel Messi scoring a goal in the 14th minute and also making an assist.   In the 105 minute Di Maria scored the second goal for Argentina in extra time after a super run from Messi running from right to left until arriving to the perfect spot to send the ball to Di Maria.

Now the Semifinal sees the two ANTAGONISTS, RIVALS, RULERS in football Brazil - Argentina!

I hope Lavezzi play.  It was obvious that El Kun Aguero today did not make it.  At least Lavezzi has scored two goals for Argentina in this tournament like Messi, both having 2 goals. 

Talking about Napoli... during Maradona's time the famous chorus was:

O mamma, mamma, mamma
O mamma, mamma. mamma
sai perche' mi batte il corazon
ho visto Maradona, ho visto Maradona
eh, mamma, innamorato sto.

Meaning "Mom do you know why my heart beats? I have seen Maradona and I am in love."  

Today, everybody saw Maradona, and Maradona saw his BELOVED ARGENTINA qualifying for the Semifinals!
