By Anna Italia

Good morning, buon giorno my friends.

How are you this morning?  I am not that happy after watching the match from Group D  Cameroon 0 - 0 Italy

Although Italy finished as leader of Group D, the last 10 minutes of the match were just a killer time where both teams seemed happy with the draw. I was upset!

Here I am ready for our "Coffee Morning Readinds," and today no cappuccino but a strong doppio espresso. I really need to be awake.  While I am typing this post, I am also watching the match China - Brazil to see our AC Milan Forwards Alexandre Pato and Ronaldinho.  Checking also through the monitor Argentna for our Napoli forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.  So, I really need A STRONG COFFEE.

Are you ready to read the newspaper with me?  Good, so, get your cup of coffee, tea, juice, or water and let's start.

Here is the front page of Italy's sport newspaper
"Il Corriere dello Sport," from today, Wednesday, August 13, 2008, 2008.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW - Italy Head Coach Marcello Lippi

Headline says,"Lippi doesn't have a doubt: It will be Inter-Roma"

The giallorossi starts on the same level with Inter.

I like Mourinho: he is intelligent.  Napoli will go  far this season.

Anna Italia Opinion  -  The interview with Lippi takes place  just three days before he announces the "Called up players" for the friendly match against Austria.

In the inteview Lippi talks about the Nazionale, Olympics and the Serie A.

Good news is that in the interview Lippi hints that he might look for new faces in the current Olympic team that  he cosiders "extraordinary."

Wow, this is great news because Italy needs to rejuvenate and form the NEW ITALY.  I mean, we all love the big guys Alessandro Del Piero, Mauro Camoranesi, Panucci, Marco Materazzi,  and so on... but they are already in the "passing stage."

I think it is time to start giving more chances to our AZZURRINI.  For example, Juventus  midfielder Sebastian Giovinco deserves an opportunity after his consistent  season with Empoli and in the Olympics being the "commanding motor" plus enchanting Chinese with his individual technique and charisma.

Another one who is knocking at the door of the Nazionale is Cagliari forward Robert Acquafresca.

It will be ideal if Lippi starts testing our AZZURRINI in friendly matches. Don't you think?

When Lippi was asked to describe "HIS NEW ITALY" the one playing again Austria, Lippi said that there was not much to experiment because the "most interesting young footballers," are in the Olympics.

Wow. I am telling you that I like this "YOUTHFUL VISION" from Lippi.  He clearly is thinking about forming the new generation, the new Italy with top quality players.  I can see Giovinco with "a Del Piero type,"  Russotto "alla Roberto Baggio."  Don't you think?

Other good news is that Lippi will get a chance to Dossena, as he described "has good personality. I like him."

A response that surprised me from Lippi was when the name of Maggio was mentioned.  Lippi said that Maggio is doing well in Napoli but his role in the National team does not exist. Wow, then, Lippi adds that he will talk with Maggio and with Napoli coach Edy Reja.  Lippi also mentioned that Maggio's situation is like De Ceglie and they might find a space.  Anyway, Lippi is not closing the doors to any of these players. I like this.  I am getting positive energy from Lippi's interview.

Now, the heavy part came when the reporter asked Lippi if he would call players  being involved right now in the Champions League and the Roman gladiators who are waiting for the Italian Supercoppa.  Well, guess what....
Hello, hello, Lippi said that he would call them and that he already talked to Juventus Coach Claudio Ranieri and Fiorentina Coach Cesare Prandelli, Inter coach Mourinho and Roma coach Luciano Spalletti.

Wow, I think Lippi is in total control and with a clear vision of "HOW HE WANTS THE NEW ITALY." I like this.  He talks straight to the point. Excellent.

Lippi will also wait for the recovery of key players like Inter defender Marco Materazzi and Bayern Munich Luca Toni. OOOPPSSS, Luca is coming back? Yes, Hey, come on, I know Luca disappointed us all with his super poor performance in the EURO 2008, but that does not mean he is not good anymore. Glad that Lippi will give him another chance. I hope this time if he sees that Luca is not working, he won't keep him playing like former coach Donadoni did.  What do you think?

Now, you won't believe it, but when Lippi talked about the Serie A, he said that "this was the year of AS ROMA." I had to pause and get a glass of water to swallow this news.  I know Roma is good but excuse me, the last match of Roma really made me cry.  I don't think at all that Roma ---right now --- is the strongest team to win the Scudetto.  I was surprised Lippi did nto say 'Juventus."  Sure, Lippi mentions the classical group "Inter, Roma, Juventus, Fiorentina and only after AC MILAN."

I disagree with Mr. Lippi on his point regarding the Serie A.  I think from the "classical group," the one at least during this Pre-Season showing a convincing football is Juventus, then I will say Inter. Imagine that Lippi believed so strongly in AS ROMA that he thinks Roma will win one of the two main objectives.  Well, if he is meaning the Scudetto or the Champions, most likely I will say the Scudetto.

FIORENTINA

Headline says, "Firenze flies with Mutu-Gila. 2-0 against Slavia and is almost a done deal."
A dreamed couple.

Anna Italia Opinion

The article says that Adrian Mutu and Alberto Gilardino are now in the 2008 Summer Scorer Table making two great goals in the preliminary of the Champions League yesterday against Slavia Praha.

I agree Fiorentina won yesterday fair and square. Fiorentina 2 - 0 Slavia Praha.

This is the  Top Scorer of this Summer July - August.  This table will end on August 31 with the kickoff of the Serie A.

4 goals: Iaquinta (Juventus)
2 goals Amauri e Trezeguet (Juventus), Seedorf (Milan), Ledesma (Lazio)
1 goal: Doni e Floccari (Atalanta), Fini (Cagliari), Sabato (Catania), Pazzini, Gilardino e Mutu (Fiorentina), Di Gennaro (Genoa), Burdisso, A. Mancini e Adriano (Inter), Marchionni (Juventus), Matuzalem and  Meghni (Lazio), Hamsik e Bogliacino (Napoli), Bresciano, Jankovic e Miccoli (Palermo), Vucinic, Esposito, Brighi e Pizarro (Roma), M. Mancini (Siena), Abbruscato e Ogbonna (Torino), Floro Flores e Di Natale (Udinese).

illy coffee - 2 cans, 2 mugs for just $26.FC JUVENTUS - Champions League

Today, it is the turn for Juventus to play their preliminary round against Artmedia at the Olimpico Stadium. Supposedly, Juventus is the favorite to win this match. But don't rule out Artmedia because in the article, Artmedia coach Vladimir Weiss says that he knows they are not favorites but they are not coming with a losing mentality either.

Artmedia Captain Kozak even said they are not afraid  against Juventus. Had they been afraid they would have not make it all the way to the preliminary of the Champions League.

Hey, I think it is fair.  Artmedia coach and the Captain have all the right to think they can win.  Matches are won in the field not by historical tradition.  Though, I am cheering for JUVENTUS..... Forza Juve.

Italian National Olympic Team

The paper mentions the match today Cameroon - Italy where Italy is already qualified for the quarterfinals.

WILL CONTINUE.........

AC MILAN Transfer Market

The article mentions Milian will try to close the deal today in London to get Chelsea defender Ivanovic

Today Milan and Ivanovic will meet in the afternoon in Stamford Bridge.   Instead of MILAN VP Adriano Galliani making the deal, it will be Ariedo Braida to deal with Chelsea Peter Kenyon.  Point is that Milan wants Ivanovic on loan and offering 2 million.

I think Chelsea should agree because Ivanovic is not playing with them, plus they paid 14 millions for his transfer to Lokomotiv Moscow and if Ivanovic continue not playing, they cannot ask that amount of money.  Don' t you think?

My problem with the transfer of Ivanovic to Milan "is common sense."  I don't get why Milan wants to buy a player who has not played in 6 months and cannot have a guarantee that will be a good replacement for Nesta. Excuse me, we are talking about "TOP SHOT MISTER NESTA." A central defender should at least be playing for Milan to attempt and compare. Nesta, Kaladze are out for injury.

Why in the world not talking SILVA from BRAZI??? that is my main question.  Come on, they are watching him play right now with the Brazilian National Olympic team side by side with the milanisti Pato and Ronaldinho.  I better call Galliani for a reasonable explanation.

FC INTER - Transfer Market

Headline says, "Thiago Silva: Inter I am ready for you."

Anna Italia Opinion - Ok, now, let me take a deep pause and read. Who is Thiago Silva? Well, he is a central defender from Brazilian cub Fluminense and makes his debut today with the Brazilian National Olympic team against China.

Here is a good thinking on "Inter wanting to sing Thiago." why?  Hello, Thiago is a central defender and has only 23 years old.  Inter knows they are facing big problems with an injured Materazzi.

Chances for Thiago to join Inter is high.  In the article, Thiago said, " Yes, I like Inter. Fascinated. I don't have any personal friendship with the Brazilians there for example with Julio Cesar. Though I will be glad to play in a club having Jose Mourinho as coach."

Now, tell me guys. If you were an Inter negotiatior, would you sign him?  I WOULD.  Young, talented, willing to improve and even admire Mourinho. So, you bet he will follow all his instructions.

Re Materazzi and the Azzurri: I dont think he will ever play for the national team again. He, would, of course, go if called (he is nothing if not patriotic), but I seriously doubt he will be called. I also think this is his last club year. When he takes off the Inter jersey, I will cry like a baby.

Much more exciting is the fact that Balotelli is now an official Italian Citizen! Hopefully Lippi will call him up and SuperMario will blow the socks off of everyone.

As for Silva to Inter: both Mourinho and Moratti have said that Inter's mercato is closed. The only thing that would see us go back to the market is if Inter bombs the suppercoppa (never happen!) or if Chivu can not come back as expected. I would be very very surprised if anyone joins the team before the Christmas break.

Johonna I think Materazzi is an icon in Inte and man although I am a milanista, it will be a sad moment when Materazzi retires from the Natoinal team. In the blog most of ua cheer for Materazzi only when he wears the Azzurri shirt. I hope materazzi gets back in shape because there is no fun playing against Inter without Materazzi.

Agree with you on Super Mario LOL, he is young and can help the Azzzurri.

The market in Inter this year failed, don't you think? too much hype for Lampard and Quaresma to end up with?????

Man, that will be a real battle Inter - Roma for Supercoppa and right now you guys are stronger. I am for Roma.

INTER: I like this Thiago Silva, a positive attiude and Inter needs positive players with the winning mentality.

It will be an advantage for Inter that he admires Mourinho and agree with you that he will go the extra mile to please him in trainings. I approve this transfer.

But both Mourinho and Moratti has said that the Inter will not be getting any new players. The squad is already bloated - especially in the back. I would bet Rivas doesnt make it past christmas.

If we can tempt any of our rivals (Roma and Samp, I am looking at you) with Crespo and Suazo, we may get Quaresma yet.

Lampard finally renewed with Chelsea. Thank goodness that drama is over.
