RESULT International Friendly: Steaua Bucharest 3 - 1 AS Roma, Goals by Moreno, Stancu and Vucinic "Roma Returns Home Humiliated and the NEED to train harder."

By Anna Italia

Che brutta figura!  it means what a poor performance from Roma!

I was watching the video with the highlights of the match and could not believe I was watching ROMA.   Wow, even the commentators were saying that Steaua were beating Italy's vice champion!  And they did!  OUCH!

It is a sad beginning for the Roman gladiators who appeared like "little cats." Gee, it hurts me to say it but that was the reality, period.  Had not been by the single goal from Roma Striker Mirko Vucinic in the 88th minute, Roma would have returned home 3 nils!!!!  All three goals by errors from the giallorossi. Though, let me clarify that the goalkeeper was not goalkeeper Doni, but goalkeeper Arthur... this explains part of the problem. First and second goal errors from Arthur.

I would have to agree with Captain Francesco Totti who said that without the arrivals of new players, Roma was only a team for the 4th position. Totti... I think you are right.

What gets me mad is the excuse from Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti who believes they lost because Bucharest were in better form because their season starts next week.  I almost exploded!  Hello, what about Juventus beating Borussia Dortmund 3-1 and even Inter beating Al-Hilal 1-0 when they were "almost in the same situation." No, sorry Spalletti, but that is no excuse. Did you see Juventus super show?

Watch the video to see the highlights of the first International Friendly between Steaua Bucharest - Roma.

Spalletti starts with a 4-2-3-1. Goalkeeper Arthur, defenders: Cicinho, Loria, Panucci and  Riise. Midfielders: Perrotta and Aquilani, Esposito, Taddei and Virga, forward: Vincenzo Montella.

Alberto Aquilanii, Christian Panucci and John Riise had the chance to score but Steaua goalkeeper denied them the joy to shout goal!

Steaua opened the score in the 10th minute by Moreno an error of Roma goalkeeper Arthur.  Just when you expected Roma to react, nothing worked.

First half ends Steua Bucharest 1 - 0 AS Roma.

In the second half, the big "Slap in Your Face."   The second goal in the 75th minute by Stancu.  The third goal in the 81st minute, another error of goalkeeper Arthur.

In the 88th minute, at least the "honor goal" with striker Mirko Vucinic.

Final result:  Steua Bucharest 3 - 1 AS Roma.

Imagine, thanks God, Roma coach Luciano Spalletti scheduled immediately a morning training session this morning CLOSED TO THE MEDIA.

You bet they the Roman gladiators heard a tough conversation.  Come on, it was necessary.  Time to wake up.

The Italian Supercoppa is coming on August 24 against Inter and I am sure ROMA won't like to do another "brutta figura."

What do you think of this result?  What are the hopes of Roma if goalkeeper Doni miss another match? Should they look for a better goalkeeper?  Where is Roma failing?

That's the whole problem and is bad. Roma cannot make it to the top 3 in European competition with that mentality.

Either they look for TOTTI or Daniele De Rossi, it must be a team. I hope Milan don't start being RONALDINHO dependent too. That will be chaos.
