"The team has character and we want to do things better," Cagliari Coach Davide Biondini. Pre-Season Training Schedule July 14 to July 20, 2008

By Anna Italia

Time for Cagliari to start their Pre-Season Training, the only difference is that neither goalkeeper Marco Storari nor Coach Davide Ballardini are there anymore to defend Cagliari.  It will be up to Goalkeeper Federico Marchetti from the Serie B AlbinoLeffe to keep Cagliari alive and for Cagliari Coach Davide Biondini to find the right formation and strategy.

Cagliari was practically out of the Serie A until Coach Davide Ballardini arrived and goalkeeper Storari to save Cagliari along the "Revelation" striker Robert Acquafresca.

Biondini gladly accepts the challenge to keep Cagliari in the Serie A and our wishes is for him to do well.

The other absent today was striker Robert Acquafresca who was called up by coach Pierluigi Casiraghi for the Italian National Olympic Team to participate in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Biondini said that he "talked to Acquafresca (phone).  He is a humble man who gladly accepted to remain in Cagliari for having giving him the chance to be in the Serie A."

Let's not forget that the contract of Acquafresca belongs to FC Inter who made an agreement with Cagliari to loan Acquafresca for this season.

The spirit to battle is there.  I am sure Cagliari won't give up easily either.

Biondini was happy with the performance from his players in the first training session.

"We went directly to work.  What did I say in my first speech? I congratulated the team for their last season accomplishment. Though, from today, we start a new year. I think the team has character and we want to do things better."

As always, Cagliari fans went to the training at the Centro Sportivo Ercole Cellino to cheer for their players and this surprised Biondini.

I think there will be a good connection between Biondini and fans because he encouraged fans to assist to their afternoon trainings. This is good!  Thumbs up.

Bottom line, the point is that Cagliari must start the season with the right foot and avoid repeating the beginning from last season when losing almost every single match.

If Cagliari starts the season, let's say by winning at least 2 out of the first 3 matches, then, we are talking business.

This afternoon training session ended with a match game.

Aresti scored the first goal, second goal was by Claudio Pani.

Do you think Cagliari Coach Davide Biondini will keep Cagliari in the Serie A and avoid relegation, yes, no, and why?
