The Derby Against Roma will be like Boca Juniors - River Plate, says Newly Signed Lazio Goalkeeper Pablo Carizzo

It is good to hear from successful Transfer market!
Lazio President Claudio Lotito presented today at Fornello former River Plate goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo born in Argentina on May 6, 1984 as new Lazio goalkeeper. I like the enthusiasm from Carrizo who said that the Roma Derby will be like playing the Argentinian Derby Boca Juniors - River Plate.
Well, at least the intention of Carrizo is clear: He wants to win the Roma Derby. "When I was a child my dream was to win the Boca-River derby, now I want to win also the Roma Derby, that's my dream," said Carrizo whose inspiration are Angelo Peruzzi, Canizares, Gigi Buffon and Julio Cesar.
Carrizo also said he chose Lazio not only because it fascinates him but also because is a club who has always had top Argentinian players. This is true, let's not forget Argentinian stiker Hernan Crespo. I think Carrizo already started to gain Lazio fans with his declarations.
No doubt that Carrizo is coming with a great presentation as his former team RIVER PLATE won the Argentinian League "Clausura 2008." Originally, Carrizo was supposed to join Lazio in August 2007, the problem was Carrizo's eligibility for European citizenship. So, now is a reality. Carrizo is a Lazio player!
I think Carrizo has the necessary skills to be Lazio first goalkeeper but this will only be proven on the field. I have watched Carrizo played with River Plate and have good impressions about him.
Carrizo has played only for River Plate making his debut on January 29, 2006 and briliantly keeping a clean sheet against Tiro Federal. River won 5-0. Ironically, Lazio goalkeeper Muslera had a similar experience but with a negative result with a humilating goleada in Week 7 Lazio 1 - 5 Milan.
Definitely, Carrizo who made his debut with the Argentina National team on April 18, 2007 against Chile --at least on paper -- has everything to be a top goalkeeper. I just hope he won't be a flop.
Do you think Lazio made a good signing with goalkeeper Carrizo, yes, no, and why?

Man,it will be a surprise if Carrizo doesn't do well with Lazio. I watched him played with River and I will welcome him in Milan. What's your take? though i agree with Nina hopefully Carrizo's luck will not go down with Lazio, if you man, you can keep him. just kidding.

I'm not a lazio fan,but as a river plate faitfull I can honestly say that this is a good signing. Let's hope his form doesn't dip when he starts playing for Lazio.

Nigel forgot to tell you that Muslera better go back to sender, don't you think? That was really a super flop.

Yes Pietro..it is not that we didnt give him a chance! but we gave him countless chances and he didnt grab the chance! He flopped at almost every game he played in!! Most notably against the Rossoneri in Rome. He should just leave Lazio.

Nigel, Muslera had plenty of chances to prove himself. Sadly, he proved to be not ready to be in a Serie A team as first goalkeeper. Either he needs to train more or have more playing time. Bottom line, Lazio blew it big time with Muslera and I hope Carrizo won't be the same. He is good, at least from what I saw when he played with River Plate. So, good luck guys!

He remind me of Crespo really! I wish him all luck and may his dream come true!

Why Crespo??? They look alike?
Reply to this
Because Crespo came from River to Parma and from there he became KNOWN to the WORLD and Made a name for himself!!!

Good luck Carizzo.
Surprised Casillas is not on his list and Canizares is. Lazio needed a younger goalkeeper. Let's see how he does.

That's true... wonder why not Casillas. I am just hoping Carrizo become a top goalkeeper and help Lazio get a better position in the Serie A. Lazio ended in the 12th place with 46 points.
I am waiting for the ROMA DERBY... wow... well, I will be cheering for ROMA but I want to see how well Carrizo does because his dream is to win the Derby. Hey, you guys better not miss the Roman Derby.

I really liked Angelo Peruzzi. The fact that Carrizo gains inspiration from him, among others, is a good thing in my book.
