Do you agree Fiorentina to have 2 Captains: Montolivo for the Serie A and Mutu for the Champions League?

I was about to say "Good morning," but when I read in La Gazzetta dello Sport the crazy idea from Fiorentina Coach Cesare Prandelli suggesting to have 2 captains with Midfielder Riccardo Montolivo as Captain in the Serie a and Forward Adrian Mutu Captain in the Champions League, I simply cannot say good morning.
Midfielder Riccardo Montolivo Forward Adrian Mutu

I don't even know how I am going to type this article, really. I am so upset with the idea of suggesting 2 Captains "supposedly to reward Adrian Mutu" for having stayed with Fiorentina rejecting other club offers while undermining the authority of Montolivo gives me a big headache. Somebody has a Tylenol?
I am sorry, I like Adrian Mutu and even went to see him played with his National team Romania when they came to Los Angeles, but this idea gets on my nerve.
Come on, can you imagine every team having two types of Captains? What is this? But wait, it gets worst because the whole thing is so contradictory. According to Prandelli and the club it is a good idea to give the "Captaincy" to a young Fiorentina symbol like Montolivo.
I am telling you guys, I am so upset with this whole idea that maybe I am overreacting. If so, let Prandelli convince me with another argument because the excuse that "Montolivo doesn't have enough prestige in the international level" is just crap!
So, Prandelli had the brilliant idea to name Mutu as Captain for the Champions League. Oh my gosh... I can barely manage to finish this post... No, no, no, no, and no.
Hello, are you kidding me? What are they implying? Are they saying Montolivo is not competent enough to deal as Captain in the Champions League? Are we talking about having a lower class captain and an upper class captain? Come on... at least, Prandelli should have created another idea to reward Mutu.
The whole decision, the approval, now depends on the team. It is the team that wll decide whether to have 1 captain or 2 captains. Unbelievable! Talking about giving self confidence to a loyal player like Montolivo!
I would agree with the idea of having 2 Captains if it wasnt a way "of rewarding a player for having stayed in the club." Excuse me, it means that this player, then, was not really caring about the team in the first place but on signing a super millionaire contract.
How about if Fiorentina doesn't even pass the preliminaries of the Champions League? Are they going to suggest then that Montolivo resign as captain from the Serie A to name Mutu? Ma scherziamo? Are we joking?
What do you think of Prandelli's idea to have the 2 Captains one for the Serie A and the other for the Champions League. Do you agree, yes, no, and why?

Is this a joke? Sounds absurd to me..Imagine Maldini captaining Milan in Serie A and Ambrosini in Champions League.

Nigel it is just ridiculous. Man, what's wrong with Prandelli, this type of decision is not from his character maybe it was forced to say so? I don't like it at all.
Anna i can understand your frustration because it is like Nigel said, imagine Maldini in A and Ambrosini in the Champs. Man, this is crazy and Mutu does not deserve this distinction. Man, is they are talking about Montolivo not having prestige in international competitions than why not appointing Gilardino who won everything with Milan, that's prestige. It is just unbelievable what Fiorentina is doing and lack of respect for Montolivo. What's your take?

This is the problem with our league. I'm sorry, but I'm getting the sense that we disrespect Italian players. We never trust the youngsters on getting first team football,we buy the Patos from South America(no disrespect to pato in particular, but just tryin to make a point),and now we tell our future stars that they are not good enough to captain their sides. There was also talk about Kaka getting the armband ahead of Ambro, and Rino, and I haven't got a clue why! They have always respected order of hierarchy ,why change that now? This is absurd!
I would have understood if they said Mutu will be the captain at all times, but what is the point of assigning Montolivo to serie A games? What does that say to Montolivo, and all future stars who dream of becoming symbol for their clubs? Who knows how far la viola will get in the CL,then what? This will create unnecessary sensitivity among the squad.
I resent the idea of Fiorentina having to compensate Mutu for his Loyalty. Let's not forget that Juve wanted to get rid of him. On top of that, He had drug problems in the past, yet Fiorentina took the risk of signing him.He did them no favors when he decided to say, If anything Fiorentina revived his dying career.

Nina, you got my whole point and believe me my hands tremble when responding to your comments because it really upsets me. I imagine how Montolivo must feel and being forced to put a "front smile" to say it is ok. Oh no, the issue is that I have mixed feelings because I like what Mutu has done for Fiorentina last year but not to the point of saying he has "international prestige" and Montolivo not. Excuse me, you just mentioned it,,, prestige as what? are we forgetting the cocaine issue? Did Montolivo had this problem? NO!
Uffa... so tough trying to defend Mutu but it just hurts me so much to see this injustice. I agree Mutu did not do any favor to Fiorentina for staying, he wanted MORE MONEY but other clubs did not give in, simple as that... oh my gosh.. I have to stop here and finish updating the blog... but just wanted to respond to you because as you can read in my post I was so disturbed by the news.

Anna, I agree with you 100%,that is exactly how I felt too.

It's just crazy and I hope the "team" is not forced to accept this crazy idea because they are the ones to decide.

Milan99, it is crazy, it just doesn't make sense at all and I was offended by the whole "reasoning" about why giving Mutu the "captain" for the Champions League, every time I think about this it just get me mad. So, right now, I have 1 hour to update the blog and go sleep to wake up at 5:30 a.m. and watch the match of Federer/Nadal.... LOL.

Anna, its just like telling Montolivo that he is not a good enough for CL

Exactly Milan99, that's the way I felt when I read the news. I felt so upset because they are practically putting down MONTOLIVO!
I am still celebrating Nadal's victory

The more I read your responses on the 2 captains, the more I am convinced Fiorentina will make a mistake because Montolivo or any other player in his position should not be tested on loyalty to please an arrogant guy with a drug prestige for Captain if they want a player with prestige I agree on even picking Gila. or why not Pazzini.
