Do you Agree with the Reduction of Referees by the Italian Federation?

Talking about the work of the referees in the Serie A and how some of their "wrong decisions" affected many teams, today, the Italian Federation announced the reduction of its squad of referees 43 to 39 for the Serie a and Serie B! Nine referees dismissed and 5 referees promoted. Wow, this is really a change.
Moreover, among those asked to hang up their whistles, as stated by ANSA, were Gianluca Paparesta, Paolo Bertini and Tiziano Pieri, who were implicated in the famous Calciopoli match-fixing scandal by former Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi to arrange favourable treatment for some teams.
Though, more than reducing the number of referees, they should improve training to avoid costly decisions. Don't you think?
According to Pierluigi Collina, responsible for designating referees for the first and second division matches, the decision was taken because "other European federations have already cut back their squads and we also thought it would be best to work with a smaller, more compact team. Having an excess number of referees for the Sunday matches was creating problems. No one, in fact, likes to sit on the sidelines. I remember I certainly wasn't happy when I wasn't called up at the weekend. And, besides, I think you work better if you work steady."
According to Collina, ''it would be stupid to expect everyone to be perfect, because mistakes can happen. New technologies make it easier to see everything which takes place on the pitch for those watching, but we are just human beings and we cannot compete with these technologies''.
My question is what will Collina do when referees make repetitive mistakes like calling for penalties when there is clear no penalty or giving a red card when it deserves a yellow card and so on. I understand making one or two mistakes occasionally but not so often.
Collina said that ''next season it's going to be even more difficult both in Serie A and Serie B but I'm sure everyone will give it their best, referees and linesmen alike."
Do you agree with the reduction of referees by the Italian Federation, yes, no, and why?
Which matches from the 2007 - 2008 Season do you think were affected by wrongful referee decisions?

I think its better but u know, sure Refs and human beings that can make mistakes but there are mistakes that even an inexprenced FAN can catch! Plus many times refs are in the wrong place to see what is going on, I think refs need to get more fit to run more!

I think Its better, but those refs need to be more fit, many times I see that the refs are far away from the players to see what is happening, and that make them make a bad call

Just checking before going out for fireworks. Man, this is good news but i agree that what matters is that referees don't make terrible mistakes. Matches affected? Anna, i better don't say because Mark will come running with his Inter flag, but man, i say it anyway, remember matches with Empoli, Parma? had not been by those two matches the champions right now would have been Roma, that's it, man, i said it. Sorry Mark and Jina.
Happy 4th of July, Milan99 not going out for fireworks? I am leaving right now.
