What else to say from Spain after they eliminated not only the defending EURO Champion GREECE but also the 2006 World Cup Champion ITALY! Today, they did it again and eliminated Russia with a goleada.
Russia 0 - 3 Spain Goals by Xavi, Guiza, and Silva
I love Spain and is among my favorite teams, especially with the big absent RAUL from Real Madrid. However, taking the Italian perspective, I was for Russia to win. Now, I am partnering with our Italian and Bayern Munich forward Luca Toni to cheer for GERMANY.

Personally, I will continue to support Spain after this EURO 2008, but right now the pain of Italy being eliminated by my beloved Spain does not allow me to cheer for Spain, one of my favorites. Yet, I recognize that Spain has won all their matches fair and square. Congrats from an Italian fan.
To Spain, I will see you after EURO 2008, I hope you understand my pain. How I wish my Italy would have played like you have done with that drive, grinta and the furia of El Matador. Ole!

And why not say it in good sportsmanship "A POR ELLOS" Que viva España! I enjoy singing the A POR ELLOS along with Manolo and his Bombo!

A bad news for Spain was the injury of their "stellar man" forward David Villa.
Spain Head coach Luis Aragones had no other option but make a forced substitution after seeing that Villa could not continue and most likely will miss the next match. In the 29th minute, Villa shoots the free kick but Russia goalkeeper Akinfeev sees no problem to save. Problem was that Villa seems got his injury after kicking the ball. Nothing to do, after getting treatment, Villa got to go. In the 34th minute Villa is out and Cesc Fabregas is in.
Wow, this is really bad and I feel sad for Villa because he is the top scorer of the tournament with 4 goals.
In the 50th minute, finally there is a goal. Xavi scored after an assist from Iniesta! Ole! Torrero! I am telling you guys, this Iniesta has been a key player for Spain. Russia 0 - 1 Spain

In the 73rd minute, time for another OLE! Great combo between Sergio Ramos, who has had a great match, to Cesc Fabregas until Daniel Guiza gets the ball and shoots over Russia goalkeeper Akinfeev! Should we say "Que Viva España?" I guess so. They are winning fair and square. Russia 0 - 2 Spain
The final moment, the moment killing the Russian bull, arrives in the 82nd minute! Wow, I imagine the joy of Spaniard Tennis player Rafael Nadal watching his team winning! Vamos Rafa! Ok, back to our soccer, guess what, again a great move by Iniesta!!!!! He gets the ball down watch for Cesc Fabregas who pass to David Silva who just shoots the final blow and my friends, this Russian bull is already dead. Russia 0 - 3 Spain
Guys, don't miss the final between Germany and Spain. That will be a tough match.

The Spanish dominated the game in second half and THE OLD MAN (with all respect) made GREAT subs in the right time!

I agree the first half was not that a big deal but in the second half Aragones made the right substitutions. I feel the same as you Anna because Spain have won fairly but since they eliminated us I find it hard to cheer for them in this Euro.
Wonder why Aragones was not coaching Italy for this EURO!

Same here, man, why Italy could not played like Spain and Germany. Thanks God the nightmare is over and Lippi hopefully will bring back the champions.
Congrats to Spain but like almost all Italian fans I cannot cheer for them in this Euro either.

I guess I'm the only Italian fan cheering for The Red Fury. How could I not when my real Madrid's Iker Casillas,S.ramos, and Ruben de la red are playing for Spain.I can't be mad at the Spanish for winning and I feel that we got ourselves eliminated with our poor tactics and lack of desire to win.In addition, the good spirit of the game commands us to congratulate whoever wins fairly and the Spanish did win fair and square with little help from our players and ex coach Donadoni.

I'm also for Spain! also for Barca players...Pietro if u saw the game you'd see that they are real great specially FABREGAS!!!!

Nina, I also love Spain but just for this EURO 2008, I cannot cheer happily for them because they eliminated Italy. I don't think our Italian players will be cheering for Spain either. Maybe Cannavaro because he plays for Real Madrid, but still, I doubt it.
Just like I mentioned on the post, I hope Spain understand my pain on why I am not cheering for them for this Euro, though will be back after to sing next to Manolo and il Bombo "A Por Ellos."

Anna,I understand your pain, but i have come to the conclusion that Italy eliminated Italy and so I made peace with the Spanish, but i know what you mean.
Knowing how close Cannavaro and Ramos are I would be surprised if he didn't cheer for his teammate.

Hi Nina, Are you Italian?

Monica, thought you guessed by now lol. Yes dear, I’m of Italian descent. How about you?

Spain- What a game! What a bench! Not many teams can have the luxury of replacing Torres, Xavi with a Guiza and Fabregas. The changes paid off. Guiza in less than 10 minutes scored. Torres had about 60 minutes and couldn't score. Fabregas.
Senna one of the best midfielders along with Deco in the Euro 2008.
Senna did a great job marking the "famous" Arshavin. He was hyped up too early. In front of a big team, a big match he "disappeared." Spain becase they had convincing performances, had no trouble creating goal opportunities and scoring throught the whole tournment, deserve to win the final. Germany lackluster performance. Its best match being in the quarterfinal with Portugal. The only best player of the Russia team. the goalkeeper. Incredible saves.

Monica I'm real Amazed too, Senna is so GREAT!!!

Greetings to my Italian friends. It's sad to read that many of you can not cheer for Spain because they eliminated Italy. I would understand if you really thought Italy deserved to beat Spain. But I think most would agree Spain played better and the result was just. I myself like the Italian soccer team, What I do not like is when they clam up and play an entire game to not loose and don't push foreward to try to win. Most people except Italians of course call this Italian play Anti-futbol. Former Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello was let go even after winning the La Liga. It's not enough for us to just win. You have to win with style and good play. I think if Italy would of opened up a bit against Spain we would of had a much more attractive game to watch. They may of lost anyway but at least we would of seen a good game and you would at least feel like they gave their all and tried to win. I hope the new Italian coach brings together a good team and plays his games to win not with the anti-futbol. Of course with a good strong defense but also attacking and showing a great italian style and class.
For now , Spain will have to take on Germany without you and win or loose I am sure Spain will play to win for 90 minutes. If they play like today the Germans will have their hands full.
I wish good luck to the new Italian coach and team and as long as it's not against Spain I am with you.

Ciao Emilio... I was wondering about your thoughts on the match happily ended for you SPAIN and badly ended for us ITALY.
I totally agree with you that Spain won fair and square and I mentioned it in all my articles. Italy blew it big time and Donadoni made wrong timing substitutions and not the right formation either.
Also, I mention in this post, that Spain is among my favorites and you already should know this, but at the same time ask for understanding that I am deeply hurt for being eliminated. Again, we are out because we played bad, and Spain played like "we were supposed to play .. meaning with determination, no fears."
I am sure the next match Italy -Spain will be a match not to miss. Here we will see whether Italy reacts with Marcello Lippi or not.
As for the final Germany - Spain... you know I will have the "soft spot" for La Roja....but I will be cheering for Germany to make partnership with our Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni, which by the way was a big disappointment.
Anyway, I am always happy to share views with you. Que Viva España tío!

Emilio, I agree with you on the fact that the Italian team did not play well against Spain in this particular tournament, but the record between the two countries speaks for itself, and to say that Italian teams lack style when they play is denying historical results such as the trashing of Real Madrid and Barcelona(Cappelo at the Milan bench in the latter) 6-0 and 4-0 respectively at the hands of Milan and to turn a blind eye to the way Roma outplayed Real Madrid home and away in the CL ,or should I mention the Azzurri in 1994 world cup. I’m objective enough to admit that the Spanish played better than us in this euro and deserved to go through, but let’s not get carried away with exaggerations. It is easy to jump the wagon and use that old stereotypical line of Anti football style of the Italians. To make such generalization when comparing the style of play of the two countries makes one rather look unaware of the evolution of football .What does it tell us when a team like Brazil opts to a more defensive style than usual to win their 4th world cup in 1994 ? Were the Brazilians anti football? We have all watched clubs such Chelsea, and Man united play Catenaccio in the CL so why is it dull and boring when the Italians play it, and smart and tactical when other teams employ it? Where was Madrid’s style and attack minded open football when they Played Roma this year? I’m rooting for the Spanish, and admire the way they played this year, but that in no way means that stylish/attractive football is synonym with Spanish football.

Emilio, man, i understand you are proud of Spain because like Anna and Nina, I admit Spain played way better than us but only in this Euro 2008.
I did not like the remark of anti-football and allow me to get my Italian flag to wave it proudly and tell you "you are wrong."
I agree with Nina on her points that i won't repeat here regarding Spanish teams versus Italian teams in the last year where Roma, Milan, and even Lazio showed a tough lessson to Real Madrid.
Man, it gets me mad with my own team for being out of this Euro only for stupid mistakes from the former coach because we never played like champions in this tournament. You see i am not blinded man and i admit that Spain deserved to reach the final because you played well but if you ask me who i am cheering for, i will tell you for Germany for the same reasonings of Anna and many other Italian fans loyal to the Italian football team. I also respect other Italian fans cheering for Spain, that's fine, but me in this case I stand next to my Azzurri. Man, and i like Spain too. What's your take?

Emilio, I agree with you! Spain deserve to win no one can deny that! I'm for Spain and I said this before, and again I'll be with them because they did prove themselve plus I've been with Turkey so u can guess I'm with the team that play REAL Futbol!!! Our Azzurri did not play well I agree, but they'll be back in 2010, Though I'm for Argentina!
