60% of Spaniards believe that Italy will beat Spain according to Spain Newspaper El País. Are you surprised?

It seems that not all Spaniards are following the "optimistic" line from Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Zapatero who predicted that Spain will beat Italy 3-2.

I was surprised to know that an  internet poll by Spain newspaper
 El PaÍs found that 60 per cent of Spaniards still believe that Italy will beat them. Wow! I thought Zapatero must be boiling with this result!

Immediately the news made echo in the Italian media:
  • “They may boast about their so-called sorpasso, but they fear our football team,” said La Repubblica.
  • “The Spanish are terrified,” said La Stampa.

The poll is a bit contradictory from what I have seen in the Spanish news from TVE Telediario and comments from newspaper Marca. Most of the reports from Telediario show a great support from Spaniards believing that they will beat Italy. 

Only few continue to be pesimistic about "La Roja," because they sustain Spain doesn't go further than the quarterfinals.  Well, I hope the won't go further on Sunday either.  How about you?
