After having the day off yesterday, the Italian National team resumed their training session today towards the EURO 2008 Quarterfinals SPAIN - ITALY   in Vienna on Sunday, June 22, 2008.

Here is a summary of what happened today, Thursday, June 19, 2008 during the training of the Italian National team at the Bundesstadion Maria Enzersdorf in the field of Admira Wacker:
  • Italian Head Coach Roberto Donadoni leads a 90-minute training for the Azzurri in front of about 200 fans.

  • Light training for the players that played against France.

  • Training finished with a match game.

  • Almost at the end of the training, defender Andrea Barzagli had to stop for feeling a pain in the knee.  Immediately, Doctor Ferretti accompanied to Baden Hospital where he underwent medical treatment. Sadly, the tests were not positive and Barzagli will have a surgery tomorrow.  Barzagli is ruled out for the rest of the EURO 2008 Tournament in Austria and Switzerland.

  • Afternoon is free and the Italian squad resumes training tomorrow afternoon.

      The time has not been decided yet but it will in the afternoon. The
      training of the Italian National Team will be at the "Ernst Happel" Stadium from Vienna.

      Most likely it will be open only for the first 15 minutes. Usually, Donadoni have trainings closed doors the day before the match. Will keep you informed.
