What was supposed to be the REBIRTH of the Italian National Team turned out to be a never ending agony.  This is the simple truth whether we like it or not!

Is it possible that Italian Head Coach Roberto Donadoni reads our report from the second EURO 2008 Match  Italy 1 - 1 Romania and see how we all started supporting the team waiting to see a victory only to be  disappointed?

Many Italian fans had the faith to see Italy and Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni fulfilling his promise for the Rebirth, il rinascimento of our Italian Squad. Yet, as many Italian fans, I remained with a sad heart, crying, upset, in total despair for seeing this struggling team far from being the 2006 World Cup Champions.  Most of all, I was sad for our Azzurri and for the millions of Italian fans worldwide.

Take a look at these photos courtesy of La Gazzetta dello Sport from Italian fans ... their faces say it all.  Mi domando, ma cosa sta facendo Donadoni con la nazionale? meaning... I ask myself, What is Donadoni doing with our Italian National Team?  Can he explain me in simple words with valid points why he did not call Super Pippo Inzaghi when these two matches clearly calls for Inzaghi's skills?

This is before the match. A happy and proud Italian fan showing his ticket to see the match at the Letzigrund Stadium today Friday, June 13, 2008.  Even giving a thumb up to our Azzurri. Photo: Craighero

Here are a group of Italian fans watching the match in the Maxi schermo / TV on the piazza. They don't look happy to me.  Photo: Craighero

Here are the sad faces from Italian fans that kept waiting for the REBIRTH OF THE ITALIAN NATIONAL TEAM and nothing happened.  Anzi... abbiamo rischiato di perdere!!!! Had not been for our Saint goalkeeper Gigi Buffon saving the penalty from Romania and Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu, we would have been out of the EURO 2008 by now!!!!!  Photo: Craighero

I wonder what will Italian Head Coach Roberto Donadoni tell this Italian fan with his eyes waiting for the miracle?

Now, my friends, if you are reading this post is either because you are an Italian Soccer Fan or because you are curious about what happened in the match.

So, tell me, as an ITALIAN SOCCER FAN what do you think of the result?  How do you feel as a fan?  What else can we do as fans to support the Azzurri on their last match against France?

It's so sad to see my Italy in the last position with many talented players but a bad guidance. I have to be back for more on this post, right now, man, just feel so sad watching the photos of these fans who are crazy for la nazionale just as I am.

I am so mad as an Italian fan. Far from showing to be the 2006 World Cup, we seem more like a second class squad

De ja vue,we've been hear before, dont expect Holland to do us a favour even if we beat France it might not be enough,i cant help being cynical, the ref was so poor,Toni's goal was not offside, penalty never was, still we live to fight another day, lets see what controversy comes with the France game.

I feel crushed,i went to bed this morning 6:30am cause i could not sleep and of course i had to get up in time for the game.I just couldn't sleep.I'm still stressed about the result, and knowing the fact that we are at the bottom of the group makes me sick. There is nothing to say;the look on those fans pictures that Anna posted says it all.I just want to get it over with and see a strong Azzurri in 2010 cause this one is not worthy of the colors.Sorry guys,i had to get that out of my system. And before any of you jump in my face lol,i still support and love the azzurri to death, but i think as fans we have earned the right to criticize the team when they humiliate us and the whole nation. After all,we are the ones screaming our lungs out and standing by the team through thick and thin.Forza Azzurri, come on boys, prove me wrong.

Nina, i understand you 100%, if only that Donadoni knew a bit on how to lead a nazionale. Man, i was thinking he should do the Bwin match that Anna includes on the post about being the best manager in Europe. What's your take? ah, yes, man, i agree that as fans we earned the right to criticize the team too
