With the tragedy of losing our Captain Fabio Cannavaro for an ankle injury during the EURO 2008 First Day of traning at the Admira Wacker, Italian Head Coach Roberto Donadoni had no option than calling a replacement in extremis. Italy has the first game on June 9 against Netherlands, and there is no time to waste looking for replacements, especially in the defense where our team seems to have major problems.

I hope gamberini can step up to the challenge, now the difficulties that face our players are more of psychological then anything else. I’m sure Gigi will lead the team and be the driving force behind them. Best of luck to Gamberini and all the Azzurri players. We will sure miss our angel face and his beautiful smile.
