What's a number anyway???

Hey, having the right number in the Italian National team is an honor, prestige, recognition.

Honored #10 of the Italian National Squad
from one Roman gladiator to another Roman Gladiator

Is this the passing from one generation to the new generation? I think so.

It is the case of our Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi receiving the "mitico #10" once belonging to Captain Francesco Totti while many thought Antonio Cassano might get the #10.  I think Donadoni made the right decision because DE ROSSI is proving to be not only the future Roma captain but also a great leader in the National team.

Cassano chose the #18 making his personal combination.  Alessandro Del Piero gets his traditional #7.

Do you think DE ROSSI deserve to wear the #10, yes, no, and why?

Traditional #10 is fading from football these days, but I’m glad DDR kept the number. Most of our moves are through Pirlo, but I think he likes his 21. For me Pirlo is the commander in chief of the troops. Totti was more of traditional #10 than DDR. Whatever numbers they wear I love them the same.

I feel happy for De Rossi, I hope he wears the number proudly and does well. It is a lot to live up to! As a Roma fan, I really like De Rossi. I love his intensity and passion for the game. Flip through a couple of photos of Roma games and you are likely to see De Rossi wearing all of his emotion in his expressions.

For the intensity, passion, and loyalty he is a perfect 10. He reminds me of Ambrosini for Milan. Of course age is on DDR's side.

Man, we are all agreeing on De Rossi, i think is the first time that all of us agree with the selection of a player, unless Mark have a different view. De Rossi is the future of Italy and he is maturing and motivated by Totti. I am happy for the man, he earned it with his passion and how he feels the love for Roma and the nazionale.

Guys, why don't we give him a standing ovation? What's your take?

Pietro, between giving standing ovations, waving flags, and screaming you lung out supporting the nazionale, you'll get yourself sick, but then again it is worth.

I don't like De Rossi so i don't like to see him with the number 10! It is better Del Piero to wear it in its Euro 2008 if it is possible. De Rossi never can be like Totti, or Del Piero!
