Italian National Anthem "L'Inno di Mameli" Sung by the Italian National Soccer Team and Italian fans

By Anna Italia

I have goosebumps when listening the Italian National Anthem  sung by our players from the Italian National Soccer Team and millions of fans welcoming them to celebrate at the Circo Massimo in Rome in 2006.  There is also another version with images of Italy winning the 2006 World Cup.

I am just waving my Italian flag with pride !!!!!

You can listen and sing the Anthem every time  GLI AZZURRI play.  Wow, my heart  beat faster just by listening to the introduction.

Soccer Gift Ideas - Italy items
Here are some soccer gift ideas with the Italian flag and with Italy world cup flag showing a soccer ball and world champions.

I included the video for your enjoyment and the lyrics.

If you don't speak Italian, it's fine because you can sense the emotion from our players.

Usually only the first paragraph is sung.  So, come on, guys, click the video and let's sing along l"Inno di Mameli......

Here are the lyrics for "L'Inno di Mameli"
Lyrics: Gofredo Mameli
Music: Michele Novaro

Fratelli d'Italia
L'Italia s'è desta,
Dell'elmo di Scipio
S'è cinta la testa.
Dov'è la Vittoria?
Le porga la chioma,
Ché schiava di Roma
Iddio la creò.
Stringiamci a coorte
Siam pronti alla morte
L'Italia chiamò.

Noi siamo da secoli
Calpesti, derisi,
Perché non siam popolo,
Perché siam divisi.
Raccolgaci un'unica
Bandiera, una speme:
Di fonderci insieme
Già l'ora suonò.
Stringiamci a coorte
Siam pronti alla morte
L'Italia chiamò.

Uniamoci, amiamoci,
l'Unione, e l'amore
Rivelano ai Popoli
Le vie del Signore;
Giuriamo far libero
Il suolo natìo:
Uniti per Dio
Chi vincer ci può?
Stringiamci a coorte
Siam pronti alla morte
L'Italia chiamò.

Dall'Alpi a Sicilia
Dovunque è Legnano,
Ogn'uom di Ferruccio
Ha il core, ha la mano,
I bimbi d'Italia
Si chiaman  Balilla
Il suon d'ogni squilla
I  Vespri suonò.
Stringiamci a coorte
Siam pronti alla morte
L'Italia chiamò.

Son giunchi che piegano
Le spade vendute:
Già l'Aquila d'Austria
Le penne ha perdute.
Il sangue d'Italia,
Il sangue Polacco,
Bevé, col cosacco,
Ma il cor le bruciò.
Stringiamci a coorte
Siam pronti alla morte
L'Italia chiamò

English Translation

First Paragraph, which is what usually is sung.

Italian brothers,
Italy has arisen,
With Scipio's helmet
binding her head.
Where is Victory?
Let her bow down,
For God has made her
The slave of Rome.
Let us gather in legions,
Ready to die!
Italy has called!
YES

Nina what are you talking about? My Italian flag is ahead of yours waving side by side with Anna's flag, i am moving to my left side so you can come in front too. That's the way to go girl, now we are three waving our tricolore.

Gattuso lives life to the fullest, he puts his heart in everything, a true Italian, and a proud one too. I’m glad he is staying with Milan, couldn’t imagine the team without Rino.

That's why we call him the roaring lion of Milan. Gattuso has no other team than Milan, man, he would look awkward in another team. Don't you think?

Don't forget about me! I am also cheering for our Italy, hey, I might be your opponent in the Serie A but with the nazionale we are all united. So Nina and Pietro let's sing together l'inno di Mameli... Fratelli d'Italia...

I love the video too. Great idea. How enthusiastic Buffon, Del Piero, De Rossi. Nina your Milan guy Pirlo still in sleepy mode despite all the Italian flags waving.

Anna I love the video and I can see our Italian flags waving side by side.

We are singing!!!!! Yes, the video is wonderful and watching all those Italian flags waving just give me goosebumps.

Mark, you are right, we are all united for the national team. Your voice is not bad either; I can hear you all the way from here.

Mark, I think pirlo had that sleepy look on his face even when he was a fetus in his mother's womb. He is on heavy natural tranquilizers .I love my sleepy prince though. He is the master mind behind all of Italy’s moves. Rino gattuso was the most enthusiastic.

Let us gather ready to die for Italy has called. Only that part is used because the rest is too long. Of course with translation we lose the real meaning.

Anna, I agree with translation you lose the authenticity of the meaning. I started learning Italian 2 years ago after my mother urged me to so I might have made mistakes too. L'Italia chiamo, and we have answered the call.

Milan99, Pirlo’s secret weapon is his sleepy look. Opponents don't know what to expect of him. It is like someone you thought was sleep and suddenly jumps in your face. You would have a heart attack and wouldn't know what to do. He is unpredictable and that is what makes him deadly.
