THIS IS IT!  No more guessing,,

TIME HAS COME to  know who is going to win the Scudetto  either  FC INTER or  AS ROMA and whether Milan will get the 4th position for the Champions League or if will be Fiorentina.

I can't believe I am writing the last PREVIEW for this Season.  You might agree or disagree with my predictions. Regarding the Scudetto I WANT ROMA to win, and you?  Let me hear from you and who are you supporting. Any special lucky charm for your favorite team?

Wow, can you believe that THREE  BATTLES  are  still going ON in this Thirty Eighth Round:  the Scudetto, 4th place, and Relegation Zone, and all three are  ALL OR NOTHING.

   Here is the Situation for the Final Season of the Italian Serie A TIM Week 38

Here is my PREVIEW of the Serie A Week 38 - Italian Soccer Serie A Thirty Eighth Round scheduled for Sunday, May 18.

SAMPDORIA - FC JUVENTUS
Luigi Ferraris Stadium
Serie A Standing:  Sampdoria 6th position, 59 points
                           FC Juventus, 3rd position, 71  points

What is Juventus risking here?  NOTHING!  

Juventus already got the 3rd position after last week draw 1-1 against Catania guaranteeing a spot in the preliminary of the UEFA Champions League next year. So, even if losing with Sampdoria, they will still be #3 while Sampdoria can go down to the 7th position if Udinese beat Milan.

Juventus training in Vinovo is more of an entertaining a picnic day to rejoice their well done job after being relegated to the Serie B for Calciopolis.  No tension at all. 

 Bad news is that a last moment back injury  prevent Saint Goalkeeper Gigi Buffon to play against Sampdoria.  So, it will be maybe Belardi to take the position.

 

The only thing for Juventus is to help their strikers Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet to increase their goal average.  Both have 19 goals along with Genoa striker Marco Borriello.  So, the top scorer might be one of Juve players!  And I would love to see DEL PIERO, my heart explodes of joy for JUVE FLAG and also for TREZEGOL! I will be jumping and opening my best bottle of wine if either of these two guys become the Capocanoniere!

If we based a prediction on statistics, then, Juventus will be the winner because out of the 110 matches played between them, Juve takes the lead with 57 victories and Sampdoria only 31, plus 22 draws.

Physically, Juventus players are fitter and they should win this match without problems, especially by the hand of their 2 strikers Del Piero and Trezeguet.

These stats include all matches played in the national
Leagues (A, B, C), since the single-group tournament was
set up (1929/30) and all Italian Cups since 1922.

Disadvantage for Juventus are the suspension from Zdenek Grygera, Antonio Nocerino and Mauro Camoranesi.  Good thing is the return from suspension from Cristian Molinaro. Wow, I would have love to see Camoranesi playing.


For Sampdoria Coach Walter Mazzarri, there won't be much tension either because they already got a spot in the UEFA Cup.

Great chance for Sampdoria striker Antonio Cassano to play without tension and delight his fans.  Most likely, Cassano will remain with Sampdoria although he is still on loan from Real Madrid.

Striker Claudio Bellucci is out for injury, so the main "star attraction" will be Cassano.  Chance also for Vincenzo Montella to play few minutes too.

A draw will be fine so both teams can celebrate as long as Del Piero and Trezeguet scores!  Though, I rather see Juve winning.

My Prediction: FC JUVENTUS


PARMA - FC INTER
Ennio Tardini Stadium
Serie A Standing:  Parma 18th position, 34 points
                           FC Inter 1st position, 82 points

Here is the First BLOODY battle!    Imagine how crucial it is that Inter fans are not allowed to travel to go to the Stadium as declard by the city of Parma.  All measures are to avoid possible riots in case of Inter losing.

Two teams going to the war desperately to grasp the victory.  Parma playing for salvation to remain in the Serie A and not going to the Serie B while Inter will extra fight with super tactics to win their third consecutive Scudetto.  Can they do it?  Hey, my friends, that is the question!!!!

               

Point is that Inter will be the only ones to blame if losing this almost granted Scudetto for 37 weeks!  Imagine losing it in the very last round!  Wow, let me say it louder, WOW!!!!  Of course, the ones laughing all the way will be ROMA if beating Catania because they will crown themselves CAMPIONI D'ITALIA!  Hey.... what a dramatic end of the season. Don't you think?

Let's not be that dramatic, sure, come on...  are we fooling ousrselves?  We must be dramatic because Parma and Inter are risking everything!  

Here are the different scenarios:
  • If Inter loses and Roma loses too  =  Inter will win the scudetto, 1 point difference
  • If Inter and Roma win = Inter will win the Scudetto, 1 point difference
  • If Inter loses and Roma win = Roma will win the scudetto for 2 points difference
  • If Inter loses and Roma gets a draw = Inter win the scudetto because Inter has the lead on head to head with Roma
  • If Inter gets a draw with Parma and Roma beat Torino = Roma will win the scudetto with 1 point difference.
  • Parma can save themselves is they beat Inter and Roma beat Catania. Points for Parma will be 37 while Catania will remain with 36 points.
Big disadvantage for Inter coach Roberto Mancini is the injury of midfielder Esteban Cambiasso. It might be the chance for Dejan Stankovic to be the pivotal player.  Good thing that Inter has no suspended players. Though it has 11 cautioned players: Balotelli, Burdisso, Cambiasso, Chivu, Cordoba, Figo, Jimenez, Julio Cesar, Maicon, Rivas, Stankovic.

                                           

A possible advantage for Inter might be the possible return of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has been training consciously with his teammates.  Maybe it will be a honeymoon again if Ibrahimovic could deliver the winning goal for Inter to give fans the Scudetto. 

What about the other way around, defender Marco Materazzi, becoming the key player to grant Inter the Scudetto. I am sure fans will forgive him for his missed penalty against Siena.

Though, same standards apply to Parma. Challenge is for Parma striker Cristiano Lucarelli to finally blow his horn with GOALS.  What a best chance than against Inter to save Parma?   Time for Lucarelli to silence many who sustain that Parma paid too much money for an old striker not even scoring consistently to win a match.

                          
                                     Parma fans will be the MOST IMPORTANT player!!!!

Big disadvantage for Parma Youth Team coach Andrea Manzo, besides barely having  less than aweek to grasp a decent formation and strategy after the sacking of Hector Cuper,  is having 3 suspended players: Dessena, Mariga, Rossi.  Cautioned players include Coly, Gasbarroni, Morfeo, Pavarini, and  Pisanu.  The interim Coach will be declared a SAINT if beating Inter! 

It is now or never for PARMA   ... one this is true, Parma is having the support of almost everybody cheering for them to beat Inter, especially Roma fans!

   

If there is some good news for Parma is the return of Fernando Couto from suspension.  So, maybe Couto, Cigarini,  and strikers Budan and Lucarelli can work the magic for Parma.

My Prediction: PARMA



CATANIA - AS ROMA
Angelo Massimino  Stadium
Serie A Standing:  Catania 17th position, 36 points
                           AS Roma 2nd position, 81 points

Here is the Second BLOODY battle! 

What a turnover it will be if ROMA snatch the Scudetto from Inter not only in the last round but in the very last minute!   Would not that be an epic film worth to receive the Oscars????  You  bet it is.

Like Inter, Roma is going to the Angelo Massimino stadium with all their best army to beat Catania and get the Scudetto.  Problem is that by winning the Scudetto, risk sending Catania to the Serie B!!!  This won't be an esay match  because  Catania  needs desperately to win to stay in the Serie A! 

Sure, Roma already beat Catania at the Massimino for  La Coppa Italia Semifinal on May 8.  Difference is that Catania know this is their last shot!   So, it is WIN OR WIN.. 

What a big mistake for Catania to lose the precious 3 moments last week against Juventus when Catania was winning by one goal!  Had they won that match, they would have been saved! 

So, if they go down, they will have time to regret not keeping the lead against Juventus when great Juve Flag Alessandro Del Piero snatched the 3 points in the very 89th minute equaliziang the score to 1-1 !!!!!!

Roma is coming to this match with a victory last Sunday.  AS Roma 2 - 1 Atalanta.

Here is a big TWISTED  PRETZEL  because even if  Roma beat Catania, they might remain in the Serie A provided that Inter beat Parma.  Problem is that ROMA will not let go easily and be a friendly opponent to help Catania. No way jose!  Here what matters is for ROMA to win again and hope for Parma to beat Inter.  If this happens, ROMA WILL WIN THE SCUDETTO!

It is no wonder why the support of all ROMAN GLADIATORS is needed.  Though, most of the Serie A teams will be cheering for Roma.

Challenge is for Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti and for Roma midfielder and emergent Captain Daniele De Rossi to not only motivate the team but to execute their strategy to perfection. 

It won't be a bad idea if they follow INTER's example and go to the VATICAN for the Pope's blessings!

It's important for the Roman gladiators to play focused on their match against Catania and not with their minds on what is going on in the match Parma - Inter because they might lose concentration.

Only bad thing for this "Hollywood film match" is the absence of Captain Francesco Totti for his knee injury.  Though, he might be the spiritual director to give that emotional touch to his teammates.

I am for midfielders Simone Perrotta, Daniele Rossi, defender Philippe Mexes and Christian Panucci as the main players. 

                
As for Catania, the best player is striker Giuseppe Mascara who seems to become 11 men himself while playing with such determination.

Most likely, Spalletti will rely on sole forward Mirko Vucinic while Catania coach Walter Zenga might go for his tridente..... let's see what happens.... 90 minutes of suffering!!!

My Prediction: AS ROMA



AC MILAN - UDINESE
San Siro Stadium
    
       
Serie A Standing:  AC Milan 5th position, 61 points
                           Udinese 7th position, 57 points

Here is the third BLOODY battle!  

A battle for the ROSSONERI to go with all their army.   What a match will it be!  AIUTO! HELP!!!

Here I come with my bias for Milan because I am a Milan fan and I am so desperate as millions of Milan fans to see Milan back in the Champions League... so, bear with me... I will try to keep focused and also talk about Fiorentina that I also happen to like.

Point is that Milan are the only ones to blame for being in this position risking to be out of the Champions League after they lost their 4th position hardly earned when winning the famous Milan Derby AC Milan 2 - 1 FC Inter only to lose it last week when losing miserably at the San Paolo Stadium Napoli  3  -  1 AC Milan

Coach Ancelotti better have done his homeworke as well as Milan players to execute the strategy well.

UDINESE is out of the battle for the 4th position, so tension are not that high. Though, it was a big disappointment seeing them lose last week against Cagliari. Udinese 0  -  2 Cagliari

Here is the situation for Milan to reach the 4th position:  

Milan - Udinese =  If Milan want to reach the 4th position, they must beat Udinese and hope for Torino to beat Fiorentina or get a draw.  If Milan gets a draw THEY ARE OUT OF THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.  Simple as that.

Simply put, Milan depends on TORINO to emerge as a stong bull to beat Fiorentina!!!!!  OLE!  Vamos Toro!
 

Problem for Milan will be for their playes to keep their focus and not panic!!!!  Especially attention is for the defense and the midfield.  Andrea Pirlo and Massimo Ambrosini are so crucial for this match while an alert Kaka and Inzaghi are the culminators duo to secure the winning goals.

A big loss for Milan are the suspension of two key players defender Alessandro Nesta and mifielder roaring lion Gennaro Gattuso.  Five Milan players are cautioned: Daniele Bonera, Marcos Cafu, Giuseppe Favalli, Kakà and Massimo Oddo.

Things will not be easy because Udinese strikers Antonio Di Natale and Fabio Quagliarella would like to redeem themselves after their goalless match last week. 

                               

So, here is where MILAN's BERLIN WALL must be solid, task is for Kakha Kaladze to command this section and for goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac to not make baby mistakes that could be costly.

Advantage for Udinese is not having any suspended players and only 4 cautioned players:D'Agostino, Antonio Di Natale, Felipe and Pepe.

Just like the match Sampdoria- Juventus where strikers Del Piero / Trezequet are the one to shine not only to win the Top scorer and become the Capocanoniere  but to impress Italian Head Coach ROBERTO DONADONI to be among the called up players, same is here with Pippo Inzaghi, Di Natale, and Quagliarella.

In Week 19,  results favor the rossoneri,  Udinese 0 - 1 AC Milan with goal from  Alberto Gilardino.

Disdavantage for Coach Pasquale Marino is  having many injured players!  Take a look at the list: Christian Obodo, Gyan Asamoah, Diaz Felipe, Damiano Ferronetti, Mauricio Isla and  Guilherme Siqueira are all injured.

               
Bottom line, neither Milan Coach Carlo Ancelotti nor Milan players have any excuse to lose this match.  Is WIN OR WIN, period!

TORINO - FIORENTINA

Serie A Standing:  Torino 15th position, 41 points
                          Fiorentina 4th position, 63 points

Torino can  welcome Fiorentina without pressure because they are already saved after beating Livorno sending them to the Serie B with Livorno remaining in 30 points.   The men to watch for Torino are striker Davide Di Michele and midfielder Alessandro Rosina.

                       

Pressure will be  with Fiorentina and this is seen with the decision of Coach Cesare Prandelli to have closed doors training sessions this week.  Fiorentina lost in one week not only the UEFA Cup Semifinal against Rangers but also  lost against Cagliari in Week 36, plus losing the 4th position.

Bad news for Fiorentina is losing the main striker Adrian Mutu and Marco Donadel for suspension.  Not to mention  injured players: Chistrain Vieri, Dario Dainelli and Daniele Cacia.

                                 

A sudden emergence of COURAGE from Fiorentina saw them beating Atalanta last Sunday while MILAN who snatched the 4th place from Fiorentina after winning the Milan Derby AC Milan - FC Inter lost to Napoli going back to the 5th position!!!

It is a shining moment for Fiorentina striker Giampaolo Pazzini and for Torino midfielder Alessandro   Rosina to take their teams to victory.
                                      

Fiorentina has the added advantage of having a motivated striker Mario Alberto Santana
   
I am sure Coach Cesare Prandelli have been wearing his lucky purple jacket the whole week for good luck! 

                                     I
 If rumors of transfer market are true about Torino midfielder Alessandro Rosina leaving this season, then, this will be his last match!  If so, most definitely, he will want to leave with a victory.

My Prediction: TORINO

AC SIENA - PALERMO
Artemio Franchi Stadium
Serie A Standing:  AC Siena 13th position, 43 points
                          Palermo 10th position, 46 points

Siena is definitely rocking after their super match against Inter forcing them to a draw  FC Inter  2 - 2 AC Siena,  

It will be the final culmination of  a well deserved celebration since the return of coach Mario Beretta.

If Siena beat Palermo, they will both end us with 46 points.

If Palermo beat Siena and Cagliari beat Reggina, Cagliari will go from the 14th position with 44 points. 

Palermo coming to this match with a huge defeat at their home Stadium by Sampdoria.

Sad thing is that it is the last match from  Amauri, Cristian Zaccardo and even Andrea Barzagli!  Wow... it will be a sad farewell if Palermo lose. 

Great chance for Siena players Kharja  and Maccarone to end the match with another great performance.

My Prediction: AC SIENA



EMPOLI - AS LIVORNO
Stadium
Serie A Standing:  Empoli 19th position, 33  points
                          AS Livorno 20th position, 30 points

Livorno is already out and going to relegation even if winning.  Empoli if losing can go down to relegation... what else to say.... Good bye .. .see you when you are ready for the big league.


My Prediction:  EMPOLI

LAZIO - NAPOLI
Olimpico di Roma Stadium
Serie A Standing:  Lazio 12th position, 43 points
                          Napoli 8th position, 50 points

Not much to expect.... Lazio has the moral obligation to win this match for their honor and to calm Lazio fans already exasperated not only with the team and coach, but also with President Lotito.

Napoli remain in the same 8th position if winning, but if losing can go down to the 13th position if Genoa beat  Atalanta.

My Prediction:  DRAW


CAGLIARI - REGGINA
Sant'Elia Stadium
Serie A Standing:  Cagliari 14th position, 41points
                           Reggina 16th position, 39 points

Cagliari has nothing to lose, they are already saved.  Yet, the least they can do for their fans is to win at the Sant'Elia to celebrate their good season and miraculous salvation.  Time for  coach Davide Ballardini and and all the team to celebrate!

Reggina also is not risking a big deal.  Even if losing, provided that Roma beat Catania. Reggina will remain in the 16th position.

My Prediction: CAGLIARI
