This kind of news i love to hear. Sharing the beautiful sport of soccer without violence. Just love it Anna! It reminded me of our good relations with our interisti Hilda and Mark

We might disagree but not offending anyone. Perfect! What's your take?

I agree 100% Anna and Pietro. This provides a good example how stadiums should act.

    Ciao a tutti,

I think I'm about to open the can of worms here, but I think it needs to be said.

Violence in calcio isn't about the football. Football is just the pretext that brings people together, the actual root of the problem is much deeper.

Anyone who has lived here(Italy) knows that there are deep seated divisions here along cultural and economic lines. The largest of course is the North-South split, but the Catania-Sicily derby which saw a policeman dead and the stadiums closed shows that even local feuds bring out strong passions. But it's not calcio that motivates anyone to violence; it's the unemployment, diversion of wealth, corruption, racism, or a sundry other number of charges that people are angry about. And given the perpetually ineffectual governments we have here, people have had to live with this anger a long time, with no change.

Look, I'll freely admit I'm partisan in this conversation. I live in Napoli, and I see and hear every day the expressions of the disenfranchised. I'm not going to go into the details of our difficulties; this isn't the place. Instead I will say that I see the burning need that many desperately need for something positive, and for us that's calcio and our way of life.

Calcio is a symbol of political ideology and cultural identity as much as sport here, in fact I think they are inseparable. I don't condone the violence, but I do understand where it comes from. I know the British used to have a problem with fan violence, and they mostly solved it. I'm don't know what they did to correct it, but I do believe that the shootings on the autostrada and the rioting in the curva will persist for a long time.

So here's to congratulating the Scottish on what I don't believe we can ever have, but is worth trying for. If anyone who lives in the north has some thoughts on this, I'd love to hear them.

Teo why not having the same in Italy? I see your point on football being an excuse for some extremists. Just hope things in Italy improve in the stadiums and outside to avoid stupidity. Man, ruining the beauty of Soccer for their stupidity.

    Forza Fiorentina!
