Unbelievable!  Roma NOT WINNING at the Olimpico Against Livorno

Challenge was for ROMA to beat Livorno at the Olimpico, right?

Now, tell me, whatever happened to the Roman Gladiators? I can't believe ROMA could not beat LIVORNO, the last team of the Serie A at the Olimpico!  This is totally unacceptable considering that there were only 4 points between Inter and Roma for the Scudetto.

Does it mean good bye to the Scudetto?  YES AND NO.

Mathematically speaking, ROMA could still win the Scudetto.  There are 4 more matches equalizing to 12 points.  The difference right now between Roma and Inter are 3 points.  If Inter loses tomorrow against Torino, difference will be 3 points.  If Inter draws with Torino, difference goes to 4 points. If Inter beat Torino difference will be 6 points!  It means it will be really hard for Roma to catch up.

The first half ended 0-0.  Worsening the situation of the Giallorossi was the knee  injury of Captain Francesco Totti.

In the 36th minute, Captain Francesco Totti  gets an assist by midfielder Simone Perrotta and shoots from outside the box to the bottom right corner and is saved by Livorno goalkeeper Amelia!   What is not saved is beloved TOTTI falling in excruciating pain after shooting the ball.

I was watching the match in the Italian Channel RAI INTERNATIONAL and following it also by radio in RADIO SPAZIO APERTO.  Boy, they were suffering, just like me, watching Totti in pain!

Totti could not continue and Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is forced to make the first substitution.  Totti out, Mancini in.

The first goal was until the 54th minute!  Can you believe it!

In the 53rd minute, Cicinho sends an assist to midfielder Daniele De Rossi who shoots from the center of the box sending the ball too high!

Immediately, in the 54th minute, David Pizarro sends an assist to striker Mirko Vucinic who heads the ball from the center of the box blasting Livorno goalkeeper AMELIA!!!!!

In the 65th minute, Livorno coach Giancarlo Camolese substites Bervgold and brings Alessandro Diamanti.

Five minutes later, in the 70th minute,  Livorno coach Giancarlo Camolese makes a second substitution
De Vezze out, Loviso in.

Livorno are just pressuring and not giving up.

In the 78th minute, Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti makes his second substitution. Max Tonetto out, Christian Panucci in.

The cold shower came just minutes before the end of the match!
In the 80th minute, Roma was close to a second goal when David Pizarro sends an assist to Vucinic again heading the ball to the net but misses the target!.
In the 81st minute, it was Livorno coming to attack.  Alessandro Grandoni sends an assist to Alessandro Diamanti who shoots from outside the box and misses the target.....

Boy, here is where it really hurts to all Roma fans. In the 82nd minute, Roma defender Juan commits a foul on Livorno midfielder Alessandro Diamanti and wins a free kick. Referee Orsato gives a yellow card to Juan. Incredible so, Alessandro Diamanti from a direct free kick shoots from outside the box to the top right corner of the net blasting Roma goalkeeper Doni!  A cold shower at the Olimpico!

DIAMANTI blasting goalkeeper DONI and ROMA dreams to win the Scudetto

In the 83rd minute, Roma coach Luciano Spalletti makes his third substitution. Rodrigo Taddei out, Ludovic Giuly in.

The last minutes was a total war, the Roman gladiators not giving up.

In the 85th minute, Juan sends an assist to Daniele De Rossi who shoots from outside the box to the bottom left corner and is saved!

Gee, you could see De Rossi suffering, feeling desperate for not being able to score.  I love De Rossi!  He is a great leader.  Though, sometimes he blew big opportunities.

Referee Orsato signals 4 minutes stoppage time.  My friends, it was a total agony!  Seeing the giallorossi desperately trying to win the match..... wow.... Gee, we must congratulate LIVORNO coach Giancarlo Camolese for having prepared the right strategy to cause an upset.

What a major upset!  I think not even all Livoro fans believed they could beat the Roman gladiators.

The most painful news is that Captain Totti's knee injury seems serious.  It is reported that he might require a surgery and that my friends, means, Totti will be out for 6 months.

It's a somber day at Roma... the sun is not shining

Livorno can consider this draw as a victory and I am sure the SUN is shining in Livorno!  The other ones smiling are former Lazio players the "twins Filippini" brothers now ruining Roma's dream with their new team "LIVORNO."

Just hope for my Inter to beat Torino tomorrow. This Roma - Livorno draw was a surprise for me too. I even predicted Roma's victory because Livorno was no match for them, but, surprises....

Totti will miss this season, and most of next season, and will never be the same player again.
It is truly a sad day in Rome....

Francesco Totti could be sidelined for up to six months after an initial diagnosis confirmed that the AS Roma captain had damaged the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The 31-year-old suffered the injury during his side's 1-1 draw with Livorno on Saturday evening and early reports suggest that the star will require surgery.

Totti said: "I heard a crack and knew I had to stop. Is my season over? I am only thinking about my leg at the moment and I am a bit worried."

Coach Luciano Spalletti said: "In all likelihood it is a sprained right knee with damage to the anterior cruciate ligament."

The club's chief executive Rosella Sensi, the daughter of owner Franco, added: "It's added to a sad day and I am a bit worried about Francesco because he is in a bad way."

The Giallorossi star seemed to suffer the injury when he had an indirect free-kick inside the area charged down.

Although he played on after treatment, another drive on 39 minutes saw Totti remain on the turf and he was then stretchered-off to be transferred to the city's Villa Stuart clinic.

Nicholas, it is a real tragedy!

I am so upset and sad. Totti, indeed, could be out for 6 months! I just hope they don't rush him to play and let him recover properly.

Uffa..... let me update Totti's post separately..... what a luck for Roma...

Now, the dream for the Scudetto looks a shattered dream? What are your thoughts?

Pietro, it is a real tragedy. Wow, just in the last matches to have a bad news like this. I still have hope for ROMA to win the Scudetto provided that Inter lose 2 matches.

De Rossi. wow, I felt so bad watching him at the end of the match. He did not even talk after the match in Radio Spazio Aperto. Usually, Roman players talk after the match, this time, they did not..... maybe later.

As an Inter fan I am happy with this result, but I am not happy with happened to Totti. Hope he gets well.

It is a somber day in Roma but the sun is shining in Milan right now with Inter increasing the chance for the Scudetto, Forza Inter.
