This was an "emotional match" for Sampdoria Coach Walter Mazzari because he returned to his beloved former team Reggina and if beating them he would have practically sending them to the last bottom!!!!
You can tell Coach Mazzarri, former hero of Reggina, was really worried. Good thing, most of Reggina fans understood the sincere feelings of Mazzari.
After Juventus beat Milan the battle for the 4th position was between Fiorentina, Sampdoria, and Udinese.
Incredible so, all 4 teams fighting for the 4th position lost their respective matches!!!!
On paper, Sampdoria was going to beat Reggina. Instead, Reggina coach Nevio Orlandi shattered the dreams of Sampdoria Coach Mazzari to reach the zone for the Champions League.
It took Reggina 35 minutes to score the only goal securing their victory. Reggina forward Francesco Cozza sends an assist to forward Franco Brienza who soots from the center of the box directly to the center of the goal blasting Sampdoria goalkeeper Castellazzi!!!
Incredible, amazing!!!! Fans at the Oreste Granillo Stadium just applauded Brienza and motivated the team to continue fighting for the victory.
Sampdoria miracle forward Antonio Cassano was not enough to equalize the score. This time, Reggina took the honor of winning at home to the joy of their fans. Reggina was in the 20th position with 27 points, this victory took them to the 18th position with 30 points. Thumbs up! Though the struggle to save themselves is not over yet.
