Great news for all Inter fans!

Inter beat Atalanta and keep the sole leadership in the Italian Serie A Standing with 72 points followed by Roma with 68 points.

I was surprised to see Inter Coach Roberto Mancini starting line up with forwards Hernan Crespo and Mario Balotelli instead of having the 2 Argentinians Crespo and Julio Cruz. Though, Mancini brought in the second half Cruz for Crespo.

Question will be whether Inter can manage to keep this lead with only 6 more matches or if they will slow down.  Considering that the next match is famous Milan's Derby against AC Milan, it will be a huge task for both to grasp the 3 points.   Inter to keep the leadership and Milan to keep the race for the 4th position.

It was an intense match.  Yet, it took Inter 20 minutes to break Atalanta's defense.  In the 20th minute, Inter striker Mario Balotelli gets a free kick.

In the 21st minute, again, 17 years old striker Mario Balotelli makes an assist to midfielder Patrick Vieira who heads from the center of the box to the very top right corner.  Hey, Atalanta goalkeeper could not do anything.  A cold shower felt by Atalanta fans at the Atleti Azzurri D'Italia.

Patrick Vieira celebrates his goal with Esteban Cambiasso.   By the way guys,
Inter Coach Roberto Mancini also celebrated this opening goal  because it motivated the team
          to play for a victory!

It was interesting to see the "silent reaction of Hernan Crespo" when Inter coach Roberto Mancini substituted him in the 57th minute for striker Julio Cruz.  Hey, Crespo was not happy because he walked straight passing Mancini who just padded his back as saying "well done."

Click this screen to watch the highglights in ENGLISH.   I added the second video in Italian too because they narrate the match  with more passion and some of you speak Italian too.

In the 74th minute, midfielder Dejan Stankovic sends an assist to Mario Balotelli who shoots from the center of the box to the bottom right corner.  What a day for Balotelli.  First he provides the assist for the first goal, then, he scored the second goal.  What else he could ask for???

Just take a look at Inter striker Mario Balotelli and how he fools Atalanta goalkeeper Coppola.
Hey, not even Atalanta defense could stop the young Balotelli.  He just blasted the net!!!!

Is not that Atalanta put an easy match.  They tried but could not convert opportunities of goals.  Not even striker Simone Inzaghi could change the score.  Inzaghi almost scored in the 88th minute when Ferreira Pinto sends him an assist only to miss the target when shooting from the right side of the box sending the ball to the left!

I wonder what was Portuguese midfielder thinking when Mancini gives him "few minutes to play."  Mancini substituted Mario Balotelli in teh 83rd minute for Luis Figo.

Anyway, Inter controlled the match and Atalanta players lost their temper in the last minutes.  Just at the end of the match, precisely in the 91st minute, Atalanta midfielder Cristiano Doni was sent for committing two fouls.

Inter can return to Milan with a big happy smile!  Just wondering what will be the "preferred strikers" for the match against Milan.
