I am ready for this match. I had my "Cappuccino" while watching the news "TELEDIARIO" from Spain and their coverage about the match. What a day! I feel so optimistic. Come on AZZURRI!!!! So nice seeing Cannavaro, Luca Toni, Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Buffon and all our players at the beach to relax prior the match.
Undoubtedly, this is a classic match without two important flags on both teams despite having a great season. Spain Head Coach Luis Aragones did not call Real Madrid striker Raul, and neither Italian Head Coach Roberto Donadoni called Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero.
According to Spain's newspaper "MARCA," Spain Head Coach Luis Aragaones believes that France and Italy are the favorites to win the EURO 2008. Aragones does not think Spain is that strong. Hey, what a vote of confidence for the players today! I am glad Donadoni at least is motivating the team saying Italy is getting stronger. That's the way to talk! Motivate the team. Right?
The atmosphere among the AZZURRI is that of "friendship." Besides talking about the match, they are also discussing on who will win the Scudetto. Wow, amazing guys. Just continue this friendly environment but WIN TODAY. Ok,

Time to start the match!!!
Watching the match in RAI INTERNATIONAL. Unbelievable the stadium is full! Over 35,000 watching the match while MANOLO encourage the public to chant for SPAIN with his BOMBO the famous "A POR ELLOS"!

Wow... right now, Italy's National Anthem and close up of our players. SO PROUD of our AZZURRI.
The camera is passing close ups from our guys, Forza Cannavaro, LUCA TONI, Buffon!!!
Get ready guys, we are heading for a great match!
Now, it's SPAIN National Anthem and the stadium waving Spain flags. Goalkeeper Ike Casillas says that
It will be a great experience to beat Italy tonight! Will they do it.
Both goalkeepers greet each other as good friends. Buffon and Casillas. Photo credit: Marca

Ok, guys... get set, ready, gooooooooooo
Surprise to see Robaerto Donadoni's starting line up. Midfielders Daniele De Rossi and Simone Perrotta in, the tridenti strikers with Antonio Di Natale, Mauro Camoranesi, and Luca Toni. Defenders Fabio Cannavaro, Christian Panucci and Fabio Grosso are in too.
Come on guys! Forza Azzurri!
In the 3rd minute, Italy had the chance to score with Christian Panucci sending a cross where not even Luca Toni could get the ball. Amazing!
Just 3 minutes later, in the 6th minute, Saint Goalkeeper Gigi Buffon was ready to block Xavi's attempt to score but the ball went wide. Wow.... guys, both teams are just on fire.!
Unbelievable!!!! A GOAL for Italy is disallowed!!! In the 11th minute, midfielder Andrea Pirlo with a free kick from the left finds LUCA TONI ready and heads the ball blasting Spain Goalkeeper IKE Casillas!!! Oh no... REferee says is not valid arguably by a foul from Fabio Cannavaro... well, not sure about this guys... it looks a good goal!!!

Counterattacking Spain striker EL NINO Torres almost scores!!!!!!!
In the 17th minute, Spain Head Coach Luis Aragones is forced to make his first substitution after Defender Puyol cannot continue for injury. Puyol out, Albioli in

Hey guys, XAVI is a constant danger for the AZZURRI!!!!
What a luck!!!! OH noooooo Again, !!! In the 21st mintue, LUCA TONI shoots but goalkeeper Ike Casillas BLOCKEDDDDDD... Come on!!!!! Gee... I am hoping for Luca Toni to score at least one goal.
Uffa.... defender Marco Materazzi is booked after committing a foul on EL NINO TORRES!!!!
In the 37th minute, guys, a miracle!!! SAINT GOALKEEPER GIGI BUFFON makes a superb save!!!! El NINO TORRES shoots to the right of the net and BUFFON made a super stretch to deflect the ball! WOWWWW no wonder he is the beat goalkeeper!!!!! Saved by Buffon!!!
Torres not able to blast the net of Buffon. Photo credit: Marca

In the 42nd minute, midfielder Daniele De Rossi makes a good combination with Fabio Grosso. Wow, awesome, Grosso brings the ball down with his chest but missed the target when sending the ball to LUCA TONI at the back post!
I am getting nervous... I cannot even eat my BRUSCHETTAAAA !!!!
In the 43rd minute, our defender Fabio Grosso commits a foul on Xavi and the Referee grants a free kick for Spain. Thanks God Xavi misses the target!

In the last minutes, I see Spain determined to score and very aggressive! Thanks God we have SAINT GOALKEEPER GIGI BUFFON because he has saved the Azzurri from LA ROJA!!! Just saw the BOMBO of Manolo and their constant singing of "A POR ELLOS!!!"
In the 45th minute, BUFFON again makes a great save with ONE HAND denying CESC FABREGAS the chance to score for Spain!!!! Fabregas shoots from outside the box but BUFFON was there to protect ITALY!!! Way to go Buffon, a super stretch to the right!
Well, guys,,,, Referee whistles the end of the first half.
I will profit this intermission to have my Bruschetta and my glass of Red wine. COME ON AZZURRI Cheers.
In the overall, both teams have played well.
Let's see what happens in the second half....
In the 46th minute.... Oh no! Head Coach Roberto Donadoni starts the second half by substituting LUCA TONI and Genoa striker Marco Borriello is in. Marco Materazzi is out, Andrea Barzagli is in.
Andrea Pirlo out, Gennaro Gattuso in
Well, Luca toni had his chance to score but could not do it. Other than the goal disallowed, I expected more from him.
In the 46th minute, Spain Head Coach substitutes EL NINO TORRES and brings David Villa.
Wowwww.... what a dive!!!! In the 53rd minute, Spain striker David Villa is booked for SIMULATION inside the box to claim a penalty! Though, the Referee did not believe him!!!!!
In the 58th minute, Spain Head Coach Luis Aragones substitutes David Silva for Riera.
Guys, our AZZURRI are creating more danger than Spain. Camoranesi is having a superb match!
Another change for Spain????
In the 59th minute, Aragones substitutes Marcos Senna for Xabi Alonso.
Gee guys..... in the 60th minute, our Roman gladiator Christian Panucci had a great chance to score with his famous trademark "HEADING THE BALL!!! The ball went out!!!! Uffaaaaaa This would have been divine!!!
In the 61st minute, Roberto Donadoni substitute Simone Perrotta and bring Alberto Aquilani! Yes, awesome! I love Aquilani!
My God no goals yet!!!!! Gee, and I was predicting 4 goals in favor of Italy!!!!

In the 65th minute, Camoranesi takes a corner kick, but nothing seems to work for Italy!
In the 70th minute, Alberto Riera commits a foul on our Udinese striker Antonio Di Natale and Italy gets a free kick.
In the 76th minute, Camoranesi made a superb run passing 3 Spanish players but goalkeeper Ike Casillas SAVE!!!!
Not even two minutes went by....
Oh noooooooo goal from SPAINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
In the 78th minute, a superb goal from the distance!!! David Villa sends the ball to the top corner where GIGI BUFFON could not reach!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO Most amazing thing is that our defender Fabio Cannavaro headed the ball away only to fall in David Villa's foot who just shoot!!!!! What a terrible mistake from Cannavaro. Unbelievable!
Spain 1 - 0 Italy
The ball falls right on David Villa's foot.... gooallllll Photo credit: Marca

Villa celebrates this important GOLAZO Photo: Marca

In the 81st minute, again, Camoranesi with a chance to score when taking a direct free kick... but no, nothing happens!!!! oh my my my 9 more minutes and this will be over!!!! Geee I hope our guys at least equalize the score.
In the 88th minute, guys, DAVID VILLA almost score a second goal!!!!! Thanks God Buffon cleared the ball with his own legs!
Referee says 5 minute stoppage time......
In the 92nd minute, Marco Borriello has an attempt to score but is deflected by goalkeeper Ike Casillas! What a luck!!!!!! come on, come on, come on.....=
OH NOOOOOO match is over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE LOST!!!!
What a disappointment! Not even a draw????? What can I say? Will it be the end of Coach Roberto Donadoni with the Azzurri? Will Lippi return to coach the nazionale???

I admit, Spain won fair and square. It was a real GOLAZO from David Villa!... well, as "MANOLO" with his Bombo will say, "A POR ELLOS"!

Good thing we are all united on this match cheering for Italy, right?
Italy can beat Spain. It will be a great match having 2 of the best goalkeepers on the field our Gigi Buffon and Real Madrid Ike Casillas.
I will say Spain 1 - 3 Italy. How about you guys?
FORZA ITALIA.

My score will be Spain 0 - 3 Italy.

Hey guys!
What a match! Let's see how it goes. I am for SAINT GOALKEEPER GIGI BUFFON keeping a clean sheet. Just hope our defense will help, especially defender MARCO MATERAZZI who was terrible during the match with Juventus.
It's the time for LUCA TONI to lift the flag and for Marco Borriello to write his name in glory.
GO GUYS!!!
My score: SPAIN 0 - 4 Italy
Wonder what will be Suri's prediction.
Kenntak how about you????? and Hilda?? Ricardo15? what are your scores guys?
Reply to this
No disrespect here but do you think you are playing Malta or something ?
0-4, 0-3. Italy does not play to score lots of goals. Italy prefers and plays more to not be scored on and score 1 or 2 goal rather than to score 4 and be scored on. It is history now but just wanted to share my view.
Reply to this
You are right, usually, Italy goes by 1 or 2 goals. Difference this time was the "so-called superb performance" from Luca Toni and Marco Borriello being the top scorer in the Seriea with 17 goals. Competition among our strikers is giving a new change on the "traditional record of keeping a victory by only 1 goal.
Definitely, no comparison of "LA ROJA" with Malta or something else...
Though, I MISS SEEING RAUL with Spain!
Let's see what happens in EURO 2008... Hope ITALIA win
By the way, which is your favorite Serie A team?

Hi
In Serie A I go for Juventus even thouh this year they are not at the top due to having to give up players when the scandal. You see my cousin is married to Zidane and I watched a lot of Juventus when he played there and so I've kind of stuck with them. It will take them a while to get back to the top but it will happen.

Welcome man to the blog. Another Juve fan, that's great. Zidane was a great player with Juve.

Hi guys, you can say that again. We are all united on this game. My bet: Italy- Spain = Italy 3-1.

Hey Anna you are really optimistic. I can see that score happening too, but how about goalkeeper Casillas? I think he is tough too.
I agree with you on Materazzi and hope he does well with the national team.
Hey Hilda we have the same prediction
FORZA ITALIA
Reply to this
Hilda nice knowing we are on the same boat this time, i am used to our difference already with MY MILAN versus YOUR INTER.
With Mark, i already share some other predictions, but with you it's the first time we are talking peacefully cheering for Italy, that's the beauty of football.

Most of all, I want to see SAINT GOALKEEPER GIGI BUFFON keeping a clean sheet!!!!
It will be PURE HEAVEN!!! Also, seeing the ROARING LION Gennaro Gattuso defending the national team and ANDREA PIRLO with his superb freekicks.
I am just waiting for the match!!!

I can't believe in my eyes seeing your predictions 3-1 or 3-0 or 4-0 for Italy!
I wanna believe it, but i am doubting about it. We all know Spain is not easy fish to catch we all know. My heart says it will be though game and Italy will be a little bit stronger and will win for 2-1 goals from Pirlo and Luca Toni, and Torres.
Reply to this
and i am happy for that i am going to watch it live on RTR Sport tomorrow morning by Mongolian time. And we'll see it!
Reply to this
I agree with Suri, and also predict 2-1 Italy.
Reply to this
I disagree with Kenntak and Suri. Man, i hope Italy win at least with 3 goals.
Anyway guys, as long as Italy win i will be happy. How is that?
Reply to this
I still think Italy can win 4-0. If not, I go with Pietro saying that Italy should win with 3 goals.
Bottom line, I will be happy as long as ITALIA win.
FORZA AZZURRI!!!! Come on guys!!!! I am counting on "SAINT GOALKEEPER GIGI BUFFON" to keep a clean sheet but need the help of our defense to do so. Mi raccomando Materazzi, Oddo, and Cannavaro. Andiamo per la vittoria!!!! SIAMO NOI, SIAMO NOI I CAMPIONI DEL MONDO SIAMO NOI!!!!!
Reply to this
I can't believe neither of our strikers could score! This is not good for Italian football. It was bad luck for Cannavaro to clear the ball because he made an assist instead to David Villa. Don't you think?
Reply to this
Bad match, man, what happened to Italy?? Our guys played well but did not find the way to open the score. Borriello disappointed me. Luca Toni had a fair match, the best i think was Camoranesi.
What's your take guys?
By the way, Mark i agree on Cannavoro indirectly providing the assist to Villa. That was bad luck man.
Reply to this
It's a sad day for the Italian National team! Imagine I was expecting a 4 - 0 in favor of Italy and we did not score even one goal.
Luca Toni disappointed me too. I agree Mauro Camoranesi was the best as well as Gigi Buffon.
Regarding Cannavaro providing the assist... indeed, he did.
Reply to this
Hey guys, I haven't had the chance to watch the match yet. Judging from what Anna had reported, I could imagine how the match went. It is a sad day indeed.
Reply to this
Imagine how upset I was! I followed the PRE and POST coverage in the Italian media as well in Spain. The whole thing pictured perfect for Italy to win. Actually, Spain won with the help of CANNAVARO. What a mistake.
However, I must admire David Villa's quick response to kick the ball right in the air directly to the net where our GIGI could not reach. That was a golazo.
I included the HIGHLIGHTS from the match, so just pres "PLAY" to see it.
Oh well..... A por ellos!

Hi
Great website for you Italian fans. I however am from Spain. I was trying to see some Italian reactions to the game and found your site.. I noticed your photos are fom Marca. Have you nothing like Marca in Italy? It was a well played game by both sides. But I believe when you see the game you'll accept that it was a deserved win for Spain. Close but well deserved. after all they were playing the World champion.
Forza Italia and VIVA ESPANA ! See you at Euro 2008
Keep up the good work on your site , I'll check it out every now and then.

If you are looking for Italian reactions. I hope you read my article and noticed that I am not that "BLIND" to not recognize David Villa's SUPERB GOAL.
Our guys disappointed me big time, especially our strikers starting from Luca Toni, Antonio Di Natale, Marco Borriello and Vincenzo Iaquinta.
By the way, I love the covering and narration from MARCA. It's one of my favorite newspapers and the RADIO I love it too. I usually listen to Italian radio and watch the matches in Italian but also like to know the other point of view.
About MARCA photos, I LOVE THEM, that's why I used them and give them proper credit instead of mixing different photos.
Oye chico, que Viva España "A por Ellos, oe, a por ellos, oe" I agree with you. Spain deserved that tight win ... though with a little help from our captain Fabio Cannavaro
Hope to see your comments here often.
Gracias por visitarnos.

I was disappointed that Torres didn't score. So many goals in the Premiership in decisive games, I wish he could have scored 1 for Spain. Spain had possesion of the ball during the whole 2nd half. Spain beat Argentina, France, I knew that there was a chance they could beat the 'campioni del mondo' unfortunately for Donadoni it happened.
I saw it on Rai international. Where did you see it?
Reply to this
It seems Donadoni did not have a plan and just tried every striker to see his luck, it was disappointing. Don't you think?
Camoranesi was more dangerous than strikers. It just crazy to see Spain beating the big guys Argentina, France, and now even the campioni del mondo. I watched on Rai too. About El nino Torres, he disappointed me too, but good he did not score. what's your take?
Reply to this
I watched the match in English. So disappointing to see our players without concrete determination, not even one goal?
Cannavaro is making too many mistakes lately with the National team, thanks to his mistake "assist" Spain beat us.
Reply to this
I thought it would be a tough game, but I still though Italy would win.
Fortunately, it's only a friendly.
Reply to this
Man, even if it was a friendly i expected Italy to beat Spain not Cannavaro giving them the assist to score against us. What's your take?
Reply to this
However, i am happy for Villa scored a BRILLIANT goal!
I like him since he is one of powerful and modest players in the world! Italy were shameful, they even could not catch Spain, they were always almost keeping playing to stop Spanish attack!
Reply to this
Man, it's been awhile since this match. Wonder where is Suri? Man, we got to beat Spain this time and not allow Villa any space to score. What's your take?
