Amazing at 41 years old Palermo Goalkeeper Alberto Fontana extends his contract for one more year!

By Anna Italia

Who said being 40 was old to play football?  I was happy to see the news about  Palermo Goalkeeper Alberto Fontana extending his contract with Palermo until June 20, 2009.

It means Fontana will be playing until he turns 42 years old! Fontana was born on January 23, 1967.  So, maybe Paolo Maldini, after all, might follow Fontana's decision and remain active for another year with Milan. That will be great!

Sounds like to be "40" among goalkeepers is "in."  Just think about Lazio goalkeeper Marco Ballotta who is 43 years old!!!!  Truly, Fontana and Ballotta have made great saves for their respective teams and playing even better than many young goalkeepers.

This is really a good news. Forza FONTANA!!!!!!  What do you think?

That's good because Fontana seems very fit. I heard Maldini might not retire this year because he wants to play one more champions league. What do you guys know about it?

Kenntak, I like FONTANA too. He is a superb goalkeeper! Despite his 40 years old, he is doing a great job!

Mark I just posted about Maldini's desire to continue playing. I hope he remains active one more year and win the Champions League.
