Does Inter Need the Help of Referees to Win the Scudetto? Is this another Calciopolis?

By Anna Italia

The bomb has exploded and now many comment on why INTER has been helped by controversial Referee decisions. Is this another "calciopolis." I hope not. We already had enough with the Juventus scandal paying a high price!

It would be better to win convincingly. Inter at least should have lost 1 match had not been for "referees mistakes."

It is obvious that in the last four matches, starting from Inter 3 - 2 Parma, they have been favored by clamorous mistakes like giving them penalties, such as the one against Empoli where INTER won with that "GIFTED PENALTY" that even Inter Coach Roberto Mancini admitted it was not a legal penalty.

Moreover, referees validating a goal that is clearly offside like the goal of Argentinian midfielder Esteban Cambiasso against Catania in the 64th minute. CATANIA 0 - 2 FC INTER .

In other words, if Inter had lost those 3 matches, meaning losing 9 points,  the one leading the SERIE A would have been AS ROMA with one point advantage!!!!!

By now, it would have been a different status seeing a fierce contest for the Scudetto among Roma, Inter, and Juventus.

What makes people mad is that even Referee Stefano Farino now admits that he made a mistake when he validated Esteban Cambiasso's goal!  Mamma mia!

It is no surprise why the Administrative Delegate of Roma Rosella Sensi and Roma Captain Francesco Totti are so eager to lift their voices.

Sensi declared that "Inter are certainly a strong team and for this reason they can do without these refereeing mistakes."

Rosella Sensi admits that Inter is a strong team and that the  "strongest often deserve to win. We will try to recover the disadvantage."

Roma Captain Francesco Totti declared in Sky, "I don't think Inter does what Juve has done, but making always mistakes "dalla stessa parte" it makes you think."

Ironically, AC Milan Coach Carlo Ancelotti, eternal rivals of Inter, declared in the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport that he does not agree with Francesco Totti. Ancelotti said that although Inter has been favored by referee decisions, those mistakes were only a pure casualty (una casualita').

Oh well, let me doubt it. I can agree one or two mistakes, but mistakes in the last four matches? Sounds like too many coincidences. Don't you think?

Do you think "referee decisions" are helping Inter winning the 2007 - 2008 Scudetto?

- Yes
- No
- And Why?

Lot to comment on this regard because proofs are so obvious that referee Farina admitted his mistake, i think inter would have lost at least 2 matches. I agree with you that Roma would be in the first position had not been by those 9 points granted as a gift to Inter. What's your take?

Pietro, I totally agree that ROMA would have been closer to the first position. Maybe not in the first, but having 1 point difference with Inter. Although, I strongly believe that Inter got those famous "9 points" by clearly mistaken referee decisions. Sure, they are strong, no doubt about it, but, they are also not invinsible.

What a difficult position, you know I am an Inter fan and like Mancini I do admit that the penalty in the Empoli match was not legal. I know everybody seems to hate Inter because we are winning but same thing was when Juventus was the top leader, suddenly we became the bad guys and Juventus, Milan and Roma are the good guys.

Man, sorry to say it but you guys have been favored, more than favored by referees and this makes me mad. About you being the bad guys now, i think so because of all what happened after calciopolis especially how juve striker Ibrahimovic left to be with Inter something that Juve would have not expected, rather seeing him with roma or milan, i think.

Anyway, i hope referees don't give more "mistakes" to inter to win the scudetto, i am for roma because i dont' think milan mathematically speaking can win.

I don't think those are 9 points lost. It is at least 5 points (loss to Parma, draw with Empoli). However if Inter had not gotten refereeing decisions early against Siena, Empoli, Catania, and (according to one Inter fan) Torino as well, who knows what could have happened. Draw for Catania? Draw for Siena. It could be anywhere between 5-12 points.

I watched the Catania - Inter match last night, and honestly, I do not know how the ref assistant missed that offside call. It was VERY obvious. I have grown tired of Inter winning games like this. The thing that gets me is that the reverse is never true -- the opposing team getting a wrong call in its favor which results in Inter losing. I am still upset about that Parma game and you can add this Catania game to the list.

I know there is a general tendency by refs to favor the best teams and the stars. I see it happen a lot in American Football as well over the years. The refs have to be conscious of this and not let it impact the games. Unfortunately, it is impacting the games involving Inter.

Man, you said it very clear, just what i thought about this "clear offside." Don't you agree that Inter would have lost already 2 games by now, that is losing with Parma and Catania?

Yes, they very well could have lost 2 or more games. Let's see how Inter does in the Champions League where they do not get any accomadations.

In Champions League, at least, MILAN RULES and Inter fails to shine. Problem for Milan now is that KAKA and PATO might be out, plus Ronaldo out, and Inzaghi barely recovering....

Kenntak I hear you brother! How on earth the linesman could have missed this clear OFFSIDE. Are you kidding me or what?

How come this doesn't happen to the opposite team? Why not awarding an inexistent penalty to their rival? Why only INTER gets the favor of referees, and excuse me, FOUR MATCHES IN A ROW!!!!! It's no wonder why ROMA CAPTAIN FRANCESCO TOTTI comments that something must be fishy. Although, Ancelotti to my surprise defended INTER? what's going on!!!!!!! Sure, I agree referees should be conscious about making this "type of mistakes." What's the poing admitting they made a mistake after the match over, ORMAI, (by then) the result is alredy archived! Don't you think? Hello, I am so mad because ROMA would have been in first place had Inter lose those 3 matches!!!!! Or at least in the second place with 2 points difference. Gee, you can taell I AM SUPER MAD!!!!!
