Who's the Best Footballer of the Serie A and Who Comes Second, Third, Fourth and So on?

By Guest Writer Milan99

Maybe all would agree on Kaka as the #1? What about the #2, #3, #4 and so on.

Everyone of us has a favorite player that might be the best or just because deep in our heart we have respect for a specific player. For example, I am a huge fan of Hernan Crespo, but I know he's not the best.

Everyone has their own way of choosing the best player; we might agree or disagree, but after all, we respect each others opinions. So, here is the question: Who's the best footballer of the Serie A and who comes second, third, fourth and so on???

Positions doesn't matter; nothing matter, but who and why? I'm giving MY TOP FIVE.  For me, the number one is Kaka, number two Gigi Buffon, number three Zlatan Ibrahimovic, number four David Trezeguet, number five Francesco Totti. You guys know more than I do about the serie A, so tell me more about your TOP FOOTBALLERS and why they are the best in your opinion, of course.

Here are some of the reasons on why I think KAKA is the bestKaka got a lot of trophies this year which makes him the best in the world not only in the Italian Serie A. He helped Milan win 2006-07 Champions League, UEFA Super Cup,Golden Ball, World Club Cup, FIFA World Player.

Gigi Buffon, is my second favorite because he is the BEST GK in the whole wide world.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is my third favorite because he is great and second scorer in Serie A , Trezeguet could have been third instead of Zlatan but Zlatan beat David for that he plays in the Champions League placed third with five goals.

David Trezeguet is my fourth favorite because he is the top scorer in Serie A with nine goals.

Francesco Totti is my fifth favorite.  He could be simply in third position,  but due to injury he's not. Totti is one of the best footballer in the world, but unluckily he's not in his best shape this season, though he still gain respect from fans around the globe.

Now, you guys, Anna, Pietro, Kenntak, Suri, Ricardo15, and Milanista, it is your turn. This post is written by me, Milan99,  and other viewers of Anna's blog to know each other as soccer fans and to share their passion on their favorite footballers in the Italian Serie A.

    Hey, Milan,
WHAT A GOOD QUESTION it is now! I liked it so much! YES, KAKA will be named as the BEST FOOTBALLER of the year! It has been the year of KAKA not only in Italy but across the world! We all see it and enjoy it, don't we?
As of Gigi Buffon, i don't think he will be finished at second. He may be good at his position, but i just don't know.
however David Trezeguet will be the second for his goals so far.
and Zlatan at the third, Totti is the 4th and Gattuso will be 5th.

Suri, I totally respect your opinion. I simply put Gigi second because I believe that saving a goal is harder than scoring. I play GK at school and its so hard. It helped me understand how great Buffon is for saving a lot of goals. No doubt about Kaka its his year as you put. David did have a great season till now but again scoring is not like saving. Zlatan third? in my opinion he should be ahead of David for he plays at CL and also from top scorers at CL. Totti could be even better than fourth or third but he haven't had a good season due to injury, Gattuso? I have nothing to say about it he's the ROARING LION after all.

wow milan99 you are the second to write from us, i thought i was going to write soon and you surprised me. Good job, girl.

Let me give you my reasoning and like you mentioned, i respect your opinion though i disagree with your selection, is not nice?

    1. Kaka, no doubt he is the best, Kaka's record for 2007 speak by itself. He is just the best footballer this year, let's hope he continues to be the best for Milan's sake.

    2. Gigi Buffon is definitely the man, i would even dare to nominate him the best because he has been consistent and makes great saves, had not been for Buffon i think Juventus would not be where they are neither the Italian team.

    3. Ibrahimovic might be the next best footballer, i think he has great technique and like Kaka he is the key player in the team.

    4. Andrea Pirlo because although he is quiet, i think he has a brilliant mind like Anna calls him he his the "architect and Milan brains," Kaka could not do so much without Pirlo great moves and reading the match well, how about with the National team. Maybe i would put him ahead of Ibrahimovic, here i would like to know Kenntak and Anna position too because they have more in depth knowledge i think.

    5. Gennaro Gattuso is the other option, i dont think other midfielder besides Pirlo can match Gattuso. He is a great footballer and motivator too, he is a player that most teams would love to have when they need to motivate the team while losing because he transmit so much power, energy with his pride when defending the team, what's your take?

Pietro I totally respect your opinion. I see we agree in the three top players. which is good Pirlo is great but in my opinion he shines mostly in international games than Serie A games. Again I'm a new fan and you guys have more knowledge about the sport more than O do. Gattuso as I commented on Suri's comment I can't say nothing he's the ROARING LION as Anna named him!!

Milan99, great article. I note that there are no defenders on the list--poor defenders get no love.

I would rank Pirlo very highly, as you know I really like him.

I understand putting someone like Ibrahimovic on the list, but he is playing for a stellar team right now. What impresses me more is someone who can excel on a bad team. For example, Borriello has as many goals as Kaka and Bellucci has more, but the two teams from Genoa are not that great.

Kenntak I understand you, and respect your thought and agree with it. You know Defenders are great but all know that MID, ST, GK shine more due do there duty. DEF defend while GK save, ST score, MID assist About players that play well in a team that is not that good is so true but one day you'll find those players in a better team. Pirlo is great but as I commented on Pietro's comment he plays better at international level. So what you think of my choices? and tell me your top five please Kenntak

Congratulations Milan99 for publishing your first post. I feel so proud of you because you are using your soccer passion to write articles now. Good for you girl.

Here are my top 5 rankings based on current results:

    1. Kaka will be the top player --right now--. Why? Kaka is not only a great individual player, but a team player. You can be a great player, but not a good team player. Kaka has proved during the 2006-2007 Season that he can carry AC Milan to success. However, I will not rely only on Kaka, but as the work that Milan Coach Carlo Ancelotti does to help Kaka shine. What do I mean? Simply, just like Ancelotti designed Milan's strategies around SHEVA, he is doing the same with KAKA. This is why Kaka has been successful because he has an inborn talent and with the support of his coach and teammates, he just complete the whole orchestra. Bottom line, the Orchestra leader is our beloved Dr. Carlo Ancelotti leading his young pupil to his maximum potential: 13 Golden titles in 2007. Unbelievable.

    2. I struggle here between GIGI Buffon and midfielder Andrea Pirlo. Here is why. Buffon is absolutely the best world goalkeeper. I don't question it at all. However, for a team to win and having "current success," a player must be consistent and speaking with results. Unlike Gigi Buffon --right now--, Andrea Pirlo is the "walking brains of AC Milan' when almost every player seem lost in crucial moments, PIRLO has the Swiss Watch Precision to sketch mentally the moves needed by the team. Not only he sketchs them, but he makes sure the rest of his teammates execute them. This is the big difference. Pirlo "superman eyesight" is a crucial ingredient for Kaka's success too.

    3. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is no doubt "the dreamed player from most coaches." Ibrahimovic is speaking LOUDLY with his goals not only with words. I see Kenntak's point of view about playing for a super team, as opposed to playing like Borriello in a not so powerful team. Though, I don't think Borriello can qualify among the top 5 yet. In this case, I would rather see Juventus David Trezeguet ahead.

    4. Defense? Tough. Alessandro Nesta is rapidly getting back in shape and shining. Materazzi, though, he is coming back from injury, I think he is one the best defenders.

PERSONALLY ===as a fan == without thinking about their current individual succeses, my 5 favorites are:

    1. Gigi Buffon
    2. Kaka
    3. Alessandro Del Piero / Francesco Totti
    4. Paolo Maldini
    5. Gennaro Gattuso

Thanks Anna, as I thank you all for your kind compliments As I thought ever one would agree on Kaka, then the rest would be a mostly digreeing, though its alright all sharing our passion is the point of this post So yes Buffon is the best, you are right goals is what counts in soccer but remember without a GK what is soccer?Pirlo? I see we all love him but again in my opinion he is more of an International player than Serie A player, thouh he is still amazing Zlatan is unbelievably this season and too bad he plays for Inter I see I wasn't fair for DEF but again who shine are the MID, ST, GK. Materazzi? your kidding right????

oh you made a good point our personal opinion

      1. CRESPO
      2. KAKA
      3. RONALDO
      4. PIRLO
      5. GATTUSO

Let me provide you with a different kind of list of five players. I did not start playing soccer until a little more than a year ago. Since that time, I have played extensively trying to improve my skills. I play in a league and play 4 to 5 pick up games a week with South and Central American men. At this point I am not as skilled as I want to be, but I try to make up for those failings through hustle, determination and intensity, as well as through smart play. With regard to hustle, determination and intensity here is a list of five players who clearly exhibit the qualities that I try to emulate:

    1. Gennaro Gattuso – The epitome of passion and intensity.

    2. Alessandro Nesta – I play a lot at central defender. Nesta is a rock.

    3. Simone Perrotta – Some may criticize him for missing scoring opportunities, but I like his drive.

    4. Mauro Camoranesi – His tenacity and desire seems to lift his teammates.

    5. Giorgio Chiellini – He is aggressive and plays hard.

As for smart play, that will be another list.

Kenntak let me tell you how much I enjoyed reading your response. Certainly, you notice a difference when playing soccer with South and Central American men. Soccer in Latin America is like Soccer in Italy, a total passion. Especially Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico. Central America are not that passionate about soccer because they like more baseball. Anyway, glad to know you are improving your skills. YOU GO !!!

Hustle, determination, and intensity are the main ingredients for GENNARO GATTUSO too as he even says not being that technical but playing more with the heart/grinta/drive. For general inspiration, GATTUSO is the boss! He is the "ROCKY" of soccer.

      About your list:

      1. Gattuso: AGREE 100% no discussion.
      2. Alessandro Nesta: AGREE 100% no discussion.
      3. Simone Perrotta: AGREE 100% no discussion.
      4. Mauro Camoranesi: AGREE 100% no discussion.
      5. Giorgio Chiellini: AGREE 100% no discussion.

I suggest you send me a "post" with your pending "for smart play." I am sure our readers will love it. I am waiting to comment on your posts too.

Incredible, you might be reading my mind about favorite soccer players and specific technical skills. hahahahaha.

True, in Central America their main sport is baseball unlike Brazil, Argentina. I better start writing my post too, milan99 and suri beat me. Kenntak when are you writing yours? I think it is a good idea for you to write about the smart play like Anna suggested you. You can do it man plus using your soccer experience too.
