Although both teams share the same points before this match with 18 points, Napoli was in the 6th position and Atalanta in the 8th position. The challenge was for both coaches to find the right strategy and formation, period. 

Clearly, Atalanta Coach Gigi Del Neri made his homework and analyzed Napoli well.  Contrary to Napoli Coach Edy Reja who even admits in an interview given to Sky Italia that he made the mistake for not making clear that " Atalanta are a team who like to press a lot."

I wonder what kind of coach goes to a match without analyzing the opposition and telling his team how the opposition plays.  Only "an  confident" coach can do this.

Well, Napoli coach Reja paid a high price for not doing his homework.  Atalanta beat Napoli 5 -1 at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.

After this embarrassing defeat, Napoli went down to the 9tjh position, while Atalanta went up to the 6th position.

Incredible so, Atalanta gave Napoli a lesson about humility when the first half ended 3 -0!!!!  Underestimating a team is never a good tactic.  This is what happens with Napoli coach Edy Reja, not even bothering to tell his teammates that Atalanta was a team that pressure a lot.   Hello, it's like sending them to a war without the right armament.

Atalanta opened the score in the 6th minute with a goal from Sergio Floccari. Atalanta 1 - 0 Napoli

                          
The second goal came in the 20th minute by Antonio Langella. Atalanta 2 - 0 Napoli.



The third goal came in the 36th minute by midfielder Cristiano Doni. Atalanta 3 - 0 Napoli.


The first half ends Atalanta 3 - 0 Napoli. Supposedly, Napoli Coach Reja was going to change his strategy during the halftime and motivate his team. Don't you think?  Point is how could he changed his strategy after losing 3 -0. Clearly, Reja did not know how to change his strategy neither how to motivate his team. He did not do his homework and being "too confident," show them that no matter what, always one must study the opposition.


Far from Napoli finding the way out, in the 47th minute, Atalanta scored the 4th goal with Carrozzieri!  Atalanta 4 - 0 Napoli.  Now, is this was not a total humiliation, what is it?

Thanks God for Napoli's honor that Sosa could scored in the 60th minute.  Atalanta 4 - 1 Napoli.

Things did not finish there, just to add the "icing to the cake," in the 73rd minute Ferreira Pinto gave the final "slap to the over confident Napoli." Atalanta 5 - 1 Napoli.

wow.... you bet Coach Reja will do his homework from now on...... what a hard way to learn his lesson, don't you think?  At this time, Atalanta Coach Gigi Del Neri must be rejoicing for having passed the test with flying colors.
