Italian Head Coach Roberto Donadoni Preparing the EURO 2008 QUALIFYING Match Italy - Faroe Islands "what will be the formation?"

By Anna Italia

Italian Head Coach Roberto Donadoni  gave a well deserved 2 days of rest to the AZZURRI after the EURO 2008 Qualifying Scotland 1 - 2 Italy.  The team will meet tonight at Milan's Sporting Center "MILANELLO" around midnight.

The challenge is now for Roberto Donadoni to present a strong formation on Wednesday for the EURO 2008 QUALIFYING match Italy - Faroe Islands.  Training is scheduled for tomorrow at 5:45 p.m. at the Braglia Stadium in Modena.

Benefit for the AZZURI is that they will play without the tension of fighting for a qualification. Thus, it can go both ways. Either Italy finishes the match with a great result, or they will finish with a poor football display.  Let's wish the AZZURRI the best luck for tomorrow. May they give Italian fans the joy of winning convincingly at home.

WHAT:    EURO 2008 QUALIFYING
               ITALY - FAROE ISLANDS

WHEN:    Wednesday, November 21, 2007

WHERE:  A. Braglia Stadium
                Modena, Italy

TIME:      8:30 p.m. (Italy time)
               11:30 a.m. (USA  Pacific time)

What formation will you put?  Do you think Donadoni will use the same formation from Scotland?
Here is my formation:

GOALKEEPER:  Here no option, Saint Gigi Buffon is the untouchable. Though he might give Curci some playing time. Though, I won't risk it. Right now, Buffon will be the ONLY piece I will not change.

Defenders: Ok, Massimo Oddo can be back.... Though, I will keep Panucci in. If not Oddo, then a chance to Daniele Bonera.

STRIKERS: AC Milan forward Alberto Gilardino  - I think Donadoni might use Gilardino to give resting time to Luca Toni. Vincenzo Iaquinta can be a n effective striker. Is not that Italy needs to qualify and rely only on Luca Toni. I might even go ahead with Palladino as a sub.

Midfielders:  Here I will give the MILAN combo: Ambrosini, Gattuso, and Pirlo  resting time.  I might use 2 or all 3 just in one half. Time to give  Daniele De Rossi  more time.  I will definitely keep 1 of the MILAN COMBO, most likely Ambrosini. Pirlo and Gattuso need to rest.

Pietro More than Gilardino, I will give time to Raffaele Palladino and Vincenzo Iaquinta.
