Zlatan Ibrahimovic Not Afraid of Spain "I have played WITH and AGAINST the best goalkeeper Gigi Buffon"

By Anna Italia

When Sweden and FC Inter forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic was asked during a press conference about the EURO 2008 Qualifying match Spain - Sweden whether he felt nervous of  Spanish goalkeeper Ike Casillas, he surprised me with his answer.

Ibrahimovic responded,

"Ike is a great goalkeeper, but I have played with and against goalkeeper GIGI BUFFON, whom I consider the best goalkeeper of the world.  Once you have played against Buffon you can play against everybody else."

Wow, that response made me feel so proud not only of Ibrahimovic, but also of Gigi Buffon.

I had to rewind the news spot from TELEDIARIO of the Spanish Channel "TVE Television Española" to see it twice and even took photo of the screen.

In this moment, where Italian football has made news mostly for violence riots after the death of Lazio fan Gabriele Sandri, it was so refreshing to see such a great player like Ibrahimovic talking highly about an Italian football player.

Ibrahimovic's skills are unique, a combination of magic Brazilian moves and a strong shot like the Germans.  Ibrahimovic is Sweden, his mother is from Croatia and his father  from Bosnia.

While Zlatan Ibrahimovic forward of Sweden and FC Inter will play for the EURO 2008 Qualifying Match Spain - Sweden this Saturday, Goalkeeper Gigi Buffon will play for the crucial EURO 2008 Qualifying Match Scotland - Italy.

Italian Soccer Serie A.com wishes Zlatan IBRAHIMOVIC good luck and may you scores as many goals as you want, same to our beloved Italian goalkeeper Gigi Buffon, Gigi may you stop all attempts of goals from Scotland.   YOU GO BOYS!

What do you think of Ibrahimovic's response about Gigi Buffon?
