Week 8 - Eighth Round Serie A Result FC Juventus 1 - 0 Genoa "Goal by Alessandro Del Piero"

By Anna Italia

                              Juventus  1   -   0  Genoa

                                                                                    36' Alessandro Del Piero

The Great Juventus Captain ALESSANDRO DEL PIERO
delivered the winning goal to Juventus taking them to the Second Position
                           of the 2007 - 2008 Italian Serie A TIM.

What an incredible match! Just in the last few minutes, precisely in the 87th minute,  Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri was expelled and at the 94th minute. It was the first time in Ranieri's career that he is ever given a red card.  Pavel Nedved also given a red card for not stopping protesting despite the match being over.

Nedved was just mad, he lost his temper and got a yellow card in the 93rd minute and unnecessarily get this second yellow card a minute later leading to the unwanted RED CARD.

The challenge was for GENOA to upset Juventus.  Supposedly, Genoa with his 6 ex- Juventus players and ex Juventus Youth team coach Gian Piero Gasperini, now Coach of Genoa, had the magic  formula "knowing the style Juventus - lo stile juventus," necessary to beat Juventus at home.  Well, guess what. It was not enough "knowing the style Juventus - lo stile juventus," but how to apply it on the pitch.

The next doubt was whether Alessandro Del Piero fitness level was satisfactory.

Arguably, Del Piero was not called by Italian Head coach Roberto Donadoni for not playing at his top. And what do you know... the great Alessandro Del Piero scored the only goal for Juventus displaying great football technique.

After Del Piero playing beautifully, it was a surprise not only to Del Piero, but to his fans when Coach Ranieri decided to substitute him in the 79th minute for Nocerino. As you would expect from a renovated Del Piero, he was upset for the substitution and did not look at coach Ranieri.
