30' Francesco Totti 2' Ezequiel Ivan Lavezzi
41' Simone Perrotta 47' Marek Hamsik
51' Daniele De Rossi 63' Walter Gargano
79' David Pizarro 84' Marcelo Zalayeta
While Roma fans were just sitting at the Olimpico to enjoy the match, a wake up call by Napoli when Argentinian Ezequiel Ivan Lavezzi silenced the Olimpico in the 2nd minute by opening the score for Napoli. A pure joy for the few Napoli fans and question mark for the Roman gladiators. This was the beginning of an exciting match with a thrilling script that not even Alfred Hitchcock in the twilight zone would have imagined! Closing curtain at the Olimpico with whistles from the fans.
The
challenge was for Napoli to win at the Olimpico and for Roma to win at
home. Problem was that NAPOLI were not going for a picnic but to show
why they are back in Serie A. Napoli showed determination and played
without fear. It took 28 minutes for Roma to equalize the match with a penalty kick by Captain Francesco Totti. It was 1 -1.
Just in the 41st minute midfielder Simone Perrotta scored a superb goal and the Olimpico exploded. It was 2 -1.
Napoli never gave up and continue attacking when six minutes later, in the 47th minute Slovacchian Marek Hamsik equalized the score. It was 2-2. An inspired Hamsik almost scored again in the 51st minute, but it was time for Roma.
What a match! Incredible so, Napoli almost scored in the 40th second of the second half. Napoli returned determined to win. Yet, in the 51st minute Daniele De Rossi gave a ray of hope to Roma by giving the lead to Roma. A superb goal from 30 meters slammed Napoli goalkeeper Iezzo. It was 3-2.
If you thought that Napoli accepted defeat, you are dead wrong. Napoli reacted and in the 63rd minute Uruguayan Walter Gargano equalized the match to the joy of Napoli fans. It was 3 -3.
The movie was not over. In the 79th minute, Chilean David Pizarro bring back the smile at the Olimpico with a free kick from the right, Garics failed to clear and there you go.... a Mona Lisa smile for Roma. It was 4 -3.
Were Napoli ready to hands down and throw the towel? IN YOUR DREAMS. The match was just about to reach the climax. Tension was all over, Roma fans clinging to the 4-3 victory, but the few Napoli fans still praying for a victory in the Olimpico.
Prayers were answered in the 84th minute when Uruguayan Marcelo Zalayeta equalized the match frozing the Roman gladiators. A free kick by Marek Hamsik from the right found Zalayeta ready to head the ball surprising Roma goalkeeper Gianluca Curci. It was 4 - 4, what a match! what a thrill!
Six more minutes and Roma could not get the victory at the Olimpico. Although it was a 4-4 draw, Napoli celebrate this draw that has a victory flavor alla napoletana. Great match!

You are right Anna what a match just like being in "the twilight zone." 8 goals in one match, wow, this draw is good for Milan, now let's see what happens with Inter.

Ciao Pietro! An exciting match! A rain of goals. Forward Lavezzi was on fire and he is proving to be one ot the best signings for Napoli. A well deserved draw. I liked that Napoli never gave up but fought till the end. I hope AS ROMA do well in the Champions League this Tuesday.

Anna too bad Inter won. Reggina could not equalize the match and now Inter have 20 points, let's hope Milan win tomorrow and we get the 3 points to reach 13 points. You got it right, Toldo was the goalkeeper and Mancini gave resting time to many of the Internationals.

Indeed Pietro, I was disappointed with Reggina. Inter did not play a great match and still Reggina could not even equalize the match! Happy only for Adriano because he finally scored....

I hoped Hernan would score but oh well Adriano scored

Totally a great match

Milan99 Roma draw, Inter won, now it is AC MIlan chance to shorten the distance with Roma. Inter was not that interesting. Roma - Napoli was a rollercoaster!

Yes indeed a roller coaster is the right word, what a game. Hope Milan show great determination but they don't draw they MUST win???

Saw this game of course- what a match! Not allowed to blink. Even though it was tied I think Napoli deserved a victory because whenever Roma took the lead, they came back with more "ammunition."
For me the Napoli players who were indispensable were Lavezzi and Hansik. LAvezzi was unstopable. Mexes had too much trouble stopping him. Before LAvezzi was substituted- everytime he'd run on the right to make a cross- 2 roma defenders would surround him. This is the first match I saw Napoli play this season. Will I see them again? Heck yeah. So much energy.
Roma disappointed me.

Suri it would be bad if Totti wont score, like MIlan99 says I also hate the 0-0, 1-0 matches i prefer to see 3-1, 4-2.

As exciting as this game was to watch, it demonstrates that Roma is not going to win Serie A this season. For the third game they allowed a late equalizer. Championship teams do not do that. Roma has already dropped 6 points from giving up late goals, which if they had been able to close out those matches would have been in first place.
Roma is my team, but unfortunately, their defense and goalkeeping is letting them down. Compare Roma to Inter or Juventus. Those latter teams know how to secure those 1 goal wins, and that makes all of the difference.

KENNTAK: I WISH MILAN WAS INCLUDED IN YOUR LIST BUT I UNDERSTAND THEY SHOULDN'T BE

Kenntak i was shock to read your comment about Roma but it is also understandable, like Milan99 said you did not even include Milan and the numbers say why.
