Do You Think Ex Italian Head Coach Marcello Lippi Might Substitute the Current Italian Coach Roberto Donadoni?
By Anna Italia
After watching an interview of former Italian Head coach Marcello Lippi in La Domenica Sportiva alluding a possible return to direct in the future the national team, I just went blank!
I highly admire Lippi, but he used the wrong time to say that comment when the current Italian Head coach Donadoni is struggling to bring Italy's football to a higher level. Just the day after Italy defeat Georgia 2-0.
One thing is clear like a pure waterfall, Lippi did manage to control the team and win the 2006 FIFA World Cup against all odds.
Donadoni has not had a brilliant period with the national team. Yet, there is still one more chance for Donadoni to prove everybody his leadership. So far, Donadoni's team has played so poorly, lacking a jogo bonito, displaying an opaque football.
The match against Scotland will be the last test.
Just like Donadoni mentioned, the match against Scotland will be like his World Cup Final. Enough is enough.
Could Lippi replace Donadoni if he loses in Scotland?
Yes
No
and why?

I watched most of the Georgia game and honestly, I was not very impressed with Italy's performance. There was spotty play, the players were out of sync and did not take advantage of their opportunities. I am concerned about the game in Scotland as if they play like they did against Georgia they are not going to win. I really hope France loses (very doubtful) but that would help send Italy through.

kenntak I am also concerned about Scotland match too because Donadoni does not convinced me with his tactical match. It will be a surprise if France loses, I think they are in better sync. Anna what do you thing of Donadoni's formation?

yes because Italians will be made if he loses. It won't be good for the CHAMPS of the world to lose a game like that

Kenntak, I don't blame you. I am also concerned about the Scotland match. It is doubtful that France can lose. Most likely, if Italy continue playing like they have been doing, it gets scary.
So, do you think Lippi should be back or any other coach, and who?

Pietro, just mentioned to Kenntak that it seems we are all concerned about the Scotland match. I ask you the same question... do you think it is time to change coach?

Milan99, sadly to admit. Yet, I think Donadoni has not done a good job so far. Donadoni's tactical decisions have not passed the test... even Giggi Buffon said they are not playing brilliantly.... At least Lippi, transmitted confidence and the winning mentality to the players... I dont' even want to mention more because I will give Donadoni the benefit of the doubt for this Scotland match... just chatting with Suri right now ahhaha.

Anna I don't think Italy will lose this game they know they have to win. So lets have confidence

Anna I do believe it is time to change coach but I am not sure if Lippi will take the position, he did mentioned he might come back to train the azzurri, but not sure if he really will. Kenntak what is your take on Lippi and you Milan99 or do you have any other suggested coach?

Nooooo totally Lippi if Donadoni is leaving.

Lippi is certainly the better coach and I wish he were the coach now. I just fear that making a change now would be too disrputive. Let's all throw our support behind Donadoni, maybe he can help engineer a win in Scotland. Italy has the character to do that notwithstanding the coach, but right now it lacks the technical skill.

Totally right Kenntak, and hope Italy do win and show the true champs

This may not be directly on topic (however, it does reflect on the coach), but what do you think of recent comments by a couple of players like de Rossi that Italy will have no problem winning in Scotland. This is in stark contrast to the Italian players' quietness prior to the match with France.

Despite Daniele De Rossi declarations about "not having problem to win in Scotland," it contradicts what Gigi Buffon said after the match with Georgia. Buffon as captain admitted that Italy is not displaying good football and that players need to take things seriously.
De Rossi must be dreaming... or being too optimistic. I am concerned with that match, no more time for trials and error. What do you think? Am I listening "Lippi please come?"

Anna, my coach says believe you'll win the match to win it. Which means have confidence and I think thats all what De Rossi means. I hope he's not overconfidence.
