AC Milan Paolo Maldini Before Departure towards Bilbao for the Friendly Match Athletic Bilbao - AC Milan today

By Anna Italia

While 8 AC Milan players are with their respective national teams for the EURO 2008 Qualifiers, 2010 World Cup Qualifications, and International Friendlies, AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti departed this morning from Milan to face Athletic Bilbao.

Unquestionably, this friendly match is a test for i rossoneri and their beloved Captain Paolo Maldini returning from injuries after four months.
"I'm happy also because I was able to have an adequate preparation. Tonight's game is a test, for me, Serginho, Pato and for those who did not play much. Pato? He's young, like the other lads of his age he might not be consistent, but he can become a champion. Tonight's game is a friendly, but as always on the pitch we will try to win," said Maldini before departing from Malpensa.
Regarding AC Milan's performance in the 2007 - 2008 Italian Serie A, Paolo Maldini commented:  "We had a very good start, then a slight decrease in performances. Now we're recovering. In the league we miss the win at Palermo, in the Champions League all is open, whereas we won the first trophy which mattered. Let's look forward without fear."

Regarding the verdict on AC Milan goalkeeper DIDA  by the UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body, Maldini said,
"I don't understand this difference in treatment. More than 10 years ago because of a small bottle on a goalkeeper, they suspended our pitch for two matchdays. Dida made a mistake, but I repeat, I don't understand the disparity of treatent."

I am disappointed with the match. By the way, Milan did not cover the match live. They were announcing the Milan-Empoli match. Still, I already register so I wont miss any match.
