Cristiano Lucarelli "I have to be ready to take advantage even if playing for only 5 minutes" EURO 2008 QUALIFYING MATCH ITALY-GEORGIA
By Anna Italia
After watching Cristiano Lucarelli in Rai Sports on taking advantage of Italian Head coach Roberto Donadoni's call to the Italian National team, I can only say "welcome Lucarelli."
Although Lucarelli is replacing Alessandro Del Piero, he talked with respect about Del Piero. "I hope Alessandro not only finds his way back on the National team, but I hope he solves his contract problems with the club. I do not know the details of the situation between Del Piero and Donadoni, but I do know that Donadoni is very direct in his relations with the important players."
The good thing is that Italian head coach Donadoni knows well Cristiano Lucarelli, as he was his coach in Livorno. Therefore, Donadoni knows how can Lucarelli benefit the national team. What I liked about Lucarelli's responses was that he projected such positivism and willingness to work for the team.
When interviewed, Lucarelli said, "I am happy to have been called on the national team, I do not know if I will play, and I ask a lot only of myself. I have to be ready to take advantage of the chance I have been given even if I go on the field for only five minutes".
I am sure Alessandro Del Piero will be back as soon as he gets back in shape. It's not like this 'missed call' is the end of Del Piero's career with the national team. As the true champion that he is, he can recognize that sometimes taking time to get in shape is better than playing without being in shape. After all, Italy need to win the match to get the famous three points and secure the passing to the next level. Don't you think?

I just saw this group's points closely again. You mean if Scotland and France win, Italy's out! wow- I campioni del mondo
Great loss because I would want to see the top Milan lpayers and Toni battling it out in the Euro 2008 games. Ideally I would have preferred Itlay and France to pass the group. After Portugal I follow France so you can guess who I'm cheering for. Allez les bleus! Italy has only himself to blame for the lack of points or still being "un-qualified." ANyway, look who's talking! Portugal is in 3rd place and can't even win their last 3 home games. I better be quiet.
