By Anna Italia

One of the most surprising news among the 22 players called by Italian Head coach Roberto Donadoni for the EURO 2008 Qualifying match Italy - Georgia is the calling of the young ACF Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Montolivo.

Montolivo, now 22 years old, was one of the main players of the Italy Under 21 National team.  Undoubtedly, Riccardo Montolivo has earned his place in the national team after his brilliant performance not only in the Under 21, but also in the Serie A with his team ACF Fiorentina. As an attacking midfielder, he has scored 1 goal for the viola.

On October 10, 2006, the young midfielder Montolivo scored the winning goal when Italy defeated Spain 2 -1 qualifying for the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship.

Fiorentina is currently in the 4th position of the Italian League Serie A 2007 - 2008 with 13 points, only 4 points behind the top leader FC Inter and 1 point behind Roma and Juventus.

Congratulations Montolivo.

Congratulations Montolivo! I saw him play this summer against Portugal in the Under 21 tournament. Good luck with the Senior team!
