DERBY DELLA MOLE - TURIN DERBY

Not only FC Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri celebrated his 200 matches in Serie A record with a great match Juventus 4 - 0 Reggina, but on Sunday he will be directing his 201 match in the first famous Derby della Mole Juventus - Torino after four and a half years!  Can Torino Coach Walter Novellino upset the great Juventus?

The last time of the Turin Derby (Derby della Mole) was for the 2002 - 2003 Serie A.  Both matches won by FC Juventus.  On November 17, 2002 Torino 0 - 4 FC Juventus with goals by great Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero, Pavel Nedved, Di Vaio, and Davids, and on April 5, 2003 Juventus 2 - 0 Torino with an own goal by Comotto and Tacchinardi for Juve.

Torino and Juventus have played 221 times: 87 wins for Juve, 74 win for Torino, and 60 draws.

Currently, Juventus is in the 3rd position of the Serie A TIM 2007 - 2008 with 10 points, while Torino is in the 16th position with only 4 points.

The famous Derby della Mole goes back to the time when FC Juventus split in 1906. President Alfredo Dick was unhappy when some of the staff considered moving Juventus out of Turin and left with some important players to found FBC Torino. This is how famous Derby della Mole, known in English as the Turin Derby
between the city's two most successful teams.

Can Alessandro Del Piero and Davis Trezeguet give the winning goal to Juventus?

Torino represented the proletariat and Juventus the bourgeoisie. The derby was the challenge of the less rich team Turin against the all powerful and rich FC Juventus.

Imagine that to revenge from this split, in the first Derby match on January 13, 1907, someone locked ex Juventus president Alfredo Dick in the dressing room!

Dick had to guess how the match went by listening the reaction of the stadium. Just incredible for an Italian vendetta (revenge.) How do you like this?  What a way to celebrate the first official match for the newly formed team Torino.

Traditionally, Toro are known to be the club of those born and bred in the city of Turin, while Juventus is mostly supported by the immigrant workers from Italy's south, who arrived in the city to work for FIAT. Naturally, those workers will support Juventus.

Here is the photo of "Il Grande Torino."

Imagine that Il Grande Torino played with the 4-4-2 formation 10 years before Brazil did in the 1958 World Cup!

Can  Uruguayan ex- Inter player Alvaro Recoba give the winning goal to Torino?

It will be a derby not to miss.

it was about time Recoba left Inter. I was begining to think it was for the money. At least he won't be the 4th option at Torino. I think it's great that he left Inter. I also think Inter should sell Adriano the brasileiro. I'm sure Adriano won't have a long list of clubs waiting for him.

A draw would have been fair. Torino played well and Juventus could not score a goal in 90 minutes.
