EURO 2008 QUALIFIERS: Italy leaves Malpensa Airport to Arrive in Kiev, Ukraine

By Anna Italia

The Italian National Team led by Head coach Roberto Donadoni left this morning from Malpensa Airport in Milan to arrive in Kiev, Ukraine.

A training session is scheduled at 18.00 (Italian time) at NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium followed by a press conference with head coach and players.

Reportedly, Donadoni will announce the list of players for the Euro 2008 Qualifier Ukraine - Italy match after the training.  Some of the key players such as Andrea Pirlo and Daniele De Rossi are not at their top yet.  Their fitness level will be done after the afternoon training.

However, what it seems confirmed is the defence: Massimo Oddo, Fabio Cannavaro, Barzagli and Gianluca Zambrotta. Although, Zambrotta had some cramps during yesterday's training. In case of Zambrotta not recovering, there is the possibility that Fabio Grosso might replace him.

Now, where Donadoni has to carefully select fit players is in the attack.  Italy needs to score, a draw is not enough. Either Filippo Inzaghi, Lucarelli or Vincenzo Iaquinta could take the lead.

I'm not an Italy fan but I hope the players show "grinta, la voglia di vincere a tutti i costi" willingness to win at any cost. I expect at least 2 nil so Donadoni can begin to quiet the critics. It's ok to tie with France, because it is a strong team with world class players who can make the difference at any time. Please World Champs show the world you're capable of beating Ukraine.
