EURO 2008 Qualifiers: Trivia Facts about Italy - Ukraine Soccer Experience

    Some trivia questions and answers to release tension towards the
EURO 208 Qualifiers Ukraine - Italy match.

Let's try to send positive energy to the Italian National team to change some statistics.

- Do you know that when Italy won the FIFA World Cup in 1982, it didn't qualify for the 1984 European Championship?

Italy has now the chance to break this statistic and as 2006 World Cup Champions qualify for the 2008 European Championship. 

In the 2006 World Cup Italy defeated 2 -0 Ukraine in quarterfinals on August 10.
Ukraine and Italy played after the 2006 World Cup and finished with a 0- 0 draw.

- Do you know that Italy made the Euro 2004 only with a win over Azerbaijan right in its final qualifier?

I am sure Italian head coach Roberto Donadoni neither the players want to wait until the last moment.
A victory today can help Italy's chance for qualification.

I agree with Italy and AS Roma defender Daniele De Rossi that getting a draw, meaning one point, won't be enough.  Problem is that Ukraine is so optimistic and willing to beat Italy. They also seem more fit, while Italy has many injured players.


- Do you know that Ukraine has never beaten Italy since it became a FIFA member in 1992?

This EURO 2008 Qualifier match is a motivation for Ukraine to finally beat Italy.

In October, for their first Euro 2008 qualifier, Italy won 2-0  with goals from  Massimo Oddo (penalty) and a goal from Luca Toni. Unfortunately, Luca Toni will not play this time.

Former AC Milan player Andriy Shevchenko (Sheva) is energized to play his best and get a victory for his team. Curiously, Sheva will be playing against some of his former teammates. 

Can you imagine if Sheva score against Italy? 

Therefore, send positive energy to our Goalkeeper Gigi Buffon to stop Sheva from scoring.  Funny, because in the 2003 UEFA Champions League final, we asked the opposite.

That time Sheva was with AC Milan and Gigi Buffon Juventus goalkeeper. Therefore for Milan to win the FINAL Sheva needed to score... and he did! Hey, but this time is the opposite... so, we don't want him to score. GO GIGI BUFFON!!!!
