EURO 2008 Qualifiers Ukraine - Italy: Andrea Pirlo Might Be Out

By Anna Italia

Problems for Italian head coach Roberto Donadoni are just adding one after another, as if he does not have enough already.

Not only Italy has lost Luca Toni, Gennaro Gattuso, and Marco Materazzi but the architect of the Italian team AC Milan Andrea Pirlo might be out too.

Pirlo has some muscular pain in the left calf.

Naturally, Pirlo, who was the best player in San Siro against France, will try to be fit for this crucial match. It is Italy's last chance to qualify for the EURO 2008.  The moment of truth is this Wednesday.

On the other side, there is former AC Milan Andriy Shevchenko, currently player of Chelsea, who has declared that Ukraine will fight to win the match against Italy.

Therefore, Donadoni has just a big puzzle with different pieces, some fitting others not quite well. His 4-1-4-1 formation might have to change to  a 4-4-2. Let's see, Massimo Ambrosini for Gattuso; De Rossi for Pirlo, Di Natale for Del Piero? How about forwards Pippo Inzaghi, Alberto Gilardino or Vincenzo Iaquinta.

I hope Donadoni do not lose the last valuable guarantee of the team: GOALKEEPER Gigi Buffon. That will be the total chaos.
