Will AS Roma be Part of the 3 Most Powerful Teams In Serie A Instead of Inter Milan?
Traditionally, the main 3 teams in Italy Serie A are FC Juventus, AC Milan, and FC Inter.
Though, Inter Milan, the 2006 defending champion has not demonstrated -- yet -- a positive trend. We will talk later about AC Milan and Juventus, right now, the main focus is Inter and Roma.
First, Inter lost the Coppa Italia against AS ROMA. Second, on the first
day of Serie A 2007-2008
got a 1-1 draw with Udinese. Third, the latest defeat is the biggest humiliation for Inter Milan. Barcelona humiliated Inter with a big 5-0 at Camp Nou for the Joan Gomper Trophy.
Although it is too early to predict who will be the top 3 contenders for the Scudetto, AS Roma has a better chance to be part of the big 3 contenders.
Contrary to Inter Milan, AS Roma is following a positive trend, starting with the victory against Inter,
then, defeating Palermo 2-0. It seems Roma learned the hard way after Manchester United
humilated Roma 7-1
during the round of the Champions League.
Unlike Inter coach Roberto Mancini, Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti has proved to have a keen eye for strategic moves. Spaletti visualizes the game, and so far, has made the right changes.
The question is whether Roma captain Francesco Totti will be able to lead the team effectively.
In the sense of keeping a united and solid team. Absolutely, no doubt that Totti is a great player.
And what will happen with Inter big strikers, Crespo, Ibrahimovic, Cruz, Adriano, Suazo?
Winning matches not only depend on
one individual, but a team effort. True, sometimes
one individual makes the difference, for example, Kaka, Ibrahimovic, Totti.
Besides Roma, the other 2 possible contenders could be Palermo and Fiorentina.
Therefore, the challenge is for the traditional 3 teams to show their status, especially for Inter to change the negative trend. Surely, the next rounds of the Serie A will be interesting.
Will Inter finally find the positive trend?
Which group of the traditional contenders is your favorite, and why?

I think you know which group I will pick -- group 2 -- because I am not an Inter fan. That being said, I still view Inter as the frontrunner unless enough games convince me otherwise. It is way too early to tell, and teams continually improve and decline as the long Serie A season progresses.
I am happy about Roma's recent successes against Inter. Roma was the only team to beat them during last season, won the Coppa Italia rather easily, and won the super coppa. Roma also advanced further in the Champions League. Roma is not intimidated by Inter and now possesses the confidence to beat Inter in any game. However, Inter still has more depth than Roma, and that will be crucial as the season goes along.

You are right Kenntak. Although it is too eary to predict, most likely I will choose Group 2 too.
After being in Serie B for a year, Juventus has the drive and the hunger for victories. It is an incentive that will punch the team to reach the top 3 positions. I would like to see JUVE shine again, especially with Alessandro Del Piero, David Trezeguet, Pavel Nedved, Mauro Camoranesi, and Gigi Buffon.
About AS Roma, I still believe Coach Luciano Spalletti is a great strategist. Spalletti can lead Roma to the top 3 position. The only factor is to keep a united ROMA without tension among players. If this happens, then, I can say that if AC Milan start losing points in Serie A and focus their attention in the Champions League, ROMA easily can be a second or a third place.
Inter... I won't disqualify yet. Ibrahimovic is the best striker with great football technique. Problem with Inter -- right now -- is the defence.
