From today we are presenting, one by one, all four Milan's victories in the European Supercup, an important Uefa competition founded in 1974

MILAN - Milan win their first European Supercup in 1989. The final is contested by Milan, who qualified after winning the Champions' Cup on May 24 1989 at the Camp Nou against Steaua, and Barcelona, who won the Cup Winners' Cup after beating Sampdoria 2-0 in the final.

The first leg is played on a Thursday, 23 November 1989, in the evening, four days after having beaten Inter 3-0 in the league with goals by Van Basten, Fuser, and Massaro. Because of an injury during this match, Milan have to do without Franco Baresi.

In the return match, on 7 December 1989, the Rossoneri are fresh off a victory against Bologna (1-0, goal by Donadoni) and are days away from the departure for Tokyo where they will face Nacional de Medellin, the Colombian team coached by Maturana and famous for the exploits of goalkeeper René Higuita, against which 'Chicco' Evani would score again.
